The records, captured during the recording of advertising material on the México, exposed the front of the sedan and confirmed a drastic change in the visual identity of the vehicle, which is preparing for a new phase in the Latin American market.

The incident occurred in December 2025, bringing forward the official presentation, scheduled for the beginning of 2026 in the Mexican market, by several weeks. Photographs quickly circulated on automotive forums, showing that the sedan will abandon the traditional V-Motion grille, a design signature of the Japanese brand for more than a decade.

This redesign comes as a direct response from Nissan to the advancement of major competitors, such as Chevrolet Onix Plus, Volkswagen Virtus and Honda City, which have also undergone recent updates. The strategy is to reinforce the strengths of the Versa, such as internal space and reliability, adding a bolder aesthetic appeal and a robust technological package to attract new consumers.

A visual break with the V-Motion grille

The main and most impactful change in Nissan Versa 2027 is at the front. The V-Motion grille, which has characterized the brand’s launches for years, has been replaced with a cleaner, more horizontal approach. A black band now connects the optical assemblies, which have been divided into two distinct sections. LED daytime running lights (DRL) are positioned along the hood line, while the main headlights have been relocated to a lower position in the bumper, a design trend seen in other global vehicles. At the rear, the headlights have also been updated and are now connected by a horizontal bar, following the market trend. The trunk lid has been redesigned, with the “Versa” name prominently displayed, and the nameplate has been moved to the bumper, resulting in a more sophisticated appearance. Novas diamond-finish alloy wheels complete the package of external features.

Renovated interior with more technology and comfort

Although the leaked images did not reveal details of the interior, sources linked to the automaker indicate that the cabin of the Versa 2027 will receive significant improvements to increase the perception of quality and modernity. Espera The dashboard is expected to be updated with a new multimedia center, which should feature a larger screen, at least 9 inches, and offer wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a feature increasingly valued by consumers. The interior finish will also be improved, with the use of new soft-touch materials on the dashboard and doors, as well as new textures and patterns on the seats.

The safety equipment package, known as Nissan Safety Shield, will also be expanded. The expectation is that more versions of the sedan will come standard with advanced driver assistance features (ADAS), such as forward collision alert with braking assistant, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot monitoring. Essas technologies are crucial to compete on equal terms with your main rivals, who already offer similar packages. Outra likely new feature is the introduction of a partially digital instrument panel, combining analogue elements with a high-resolution screen to display on-board computer and navigation information.

Despite the profound visual and technological renovation, Nissan opted for a conservative strategy in the mechanical set.

The Versa 2027 will continue to be built on the well-known and reliable V platform, the same as the current generation.

Under the hood, the sedan will maintain the 1.6 four-cylinder aspirated engine, which in the Brasil should maintain flex calibration of up to 113 horsepower, associated exclusively with the CVT automatic transmission.

Production and leadership in the Mexican market

An important logistical change accompanies the renovation of Versa, with production being transferred to the modern Aguascalientes factory, in México.

This unit is one of the most efficient Nissan in the world and is already responsible for manufacturing other successful models, such as the Kicks.

The change occurs in parallel with the closure of the old Cuernavaca factory, scheduled for the end of the first quarter of 2026.

In the Mexican market, the Versa is the absolute sales leader, and the new generation aims to not only maintain this leadership, but also expand its advantage over direct competitors.

Release schedule at América Latina

The launch calendar for Nissan Versa 2027 will begin with México, its main market and producing country. The official presentation is scheduled for the first weeks of 2026, with sales starting shortly thereafter.

For the rest of the América Latina countries, including Brasil, the arrival of the new Versa will occur a few months later. The expectation is that the launch on the Brazilian market will take place in the second half of 2026, with the model continuing to be imported from the México.

The fierce competition in the sedan segment

To stand out among rivals such as the Onix Plus, Virtus and Manter the 1.6 naturally aspirated engine can be a differentiator for consumers who prioritize low mechanical complexity and reduced maintenance costs.

Focus on emerging markets and pricing

The decision to invest in such a profound restyling for the Versa reinforces the brand’s commitment to the sedan segment in markets such as the América Latina, seeking to offer a product aligned with the demands and preferences of local consumers.

It is still too early to talk about values, but the expectation is that there will be a moderate adjustment in prices in relation to those currently charged. Design improvements and the incorporation of more technology should impact the final value, but Nissan will need to maintain a competitive pricing policy to ensure the commercial success of this new phase of the sedan.
