Resident Evil Village and survival horror

One of the biggest attractions of the month is, without a doubt, Resident Evil Village. Desenvolvido and published by Capcom, the eighth main title in the iconic survival horror franchise continues the story of The game was critically acclaimed for its dense atmosphere, which combines psychological horror with moments of intense action, and for the memorable design of its antagonists, such as the famous Lady Dimitrescu. On PlayStation 5, the experience is enhanced with high-fidelity graphics, near-instant loading times, and the use of 3D audio, which increases immersion and tension with every suspicious sound in the hostile environment.

The double journey in Like to Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Another major highlight is Like to Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the latest entry in the Sega series, previously known in the West as Yakuza. The game stands out for being the first in the franchise to have a setting outside of Japão, taking players to the sunny beaches and vibrant streets of Havaí. The plot follows two protagonists: the charismatic Ichiban Kasuga, who returns after his debut in Yakuza: Like to Dragon, and the legendary Kazuma Kiryu, the face of the series for more than a decade. Esta epic adventure explores themes of friendship, destiny and redemption, as both characters face their own personal demons on opposite sides of Pacífico.

The combat system continues to be a dynamic turn-based RPG, but with significant improvements that allow for greater movement and strategy during battles. Além from the main campaign, which is massive and full of exciting twists, Infinite Wealth offers an impressive amount of side content. Players can lose themselves in dozens of minigames, hilarious side quests, and even a full simulation mode called Dondoko Island, where you can build and manage your own paradise resort, providing hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Off-road exploration with Expeditions: The MudRunner Game

For fans of simulation and strategic challenges, Expeditions: MudRunner Game offers a unique experience. Desenvolvido by Saber Interactive, the game invites players to lead scientific research missions across inhospitable and wild terrains.

The focus here is not speed, but careful planning. You need to manage vehicles, use tools like winches and drones, and plot safe routes to overcome natural obstacles like rivers, swamps and rocky mountains, all with extremely realistic vehicle physics.

The silent terror of A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead

Based on the successful horror film franchise, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead transports the premise of silent survival to the world of games. Exclusivo for the PlayStation 5, the title puts the player in the shoes of a new protagonist who must navigate a post-apocalyptic world.

The main mechanic revolves around sound. Qualquer Noise can attract deadly creatures that hunt by hearing, forcing a stealthy approach and clever use of environmental distractions to survive.

Indie options that complement the catalog

The January selection is enriched with several high-quality independent titles. Darkest Dungeon 2, for example, is the sequel to the acclaimed roguelike RPG, where players must manage not only the physical health, but also the mental stress of a group of heroes on a dark journey.

Another intriguing addition is The Exit 8, a psychological horror game set in a seemingly endless Japanese underground passage. The objective is to observe the environment in search of anomalies to find the exit, creating a short but striking suspense experience.

Rounding out the list, Art of Rally offers a stylized and relaxing look at the world of motorsport, while A Little to the Finally, Ridge Racer, exclusive to Premium, brings back an arcade racing classic for longtime fans.

How access to catalog games works

It is important to remember that games added to the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalogs work on a rotating basis. Access to them is conditional on maintaining an active subscription at one of these two levels. If a game is removed from the service in the future, it will no longer be possible to play it unless the player decides to purchase it or it returns to the catalog at a later date. Progress, however, is usually saved in the user’s account.
