Toyota presented two special editions of the GR Yaris that pay homage to the pilots Sébastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä, with production limited to just 100 units for each version. Essas series arrive in selected markets in 2024 and 2025, before the launch of the standard version in the Brasil, scheduled for April 2026. The models feature exclusive all-wheel drive configurations and design elements inspired by the achievements of world rally champions.
The vehicles maintain the 1.6 three-cylinder turbo engine, now with power increased to up to 304 hp in some markets. The variable all-wheel drive receives specific adjustments developed with the direct participation of the drivers. The total production of 200 examples reinforces the collectible nature of these hot hatches.
- Edition Ogier: exclusive matte gray color and decals depicting the French flag.
- Edition Rovanperä: tricolor paintwork inspired by competition cars.
- Customized driving modes for each version.
- BBS wheels and adjustable spoilers.
Expectations are growing among Brazilian enthusiasts, who await the arrival of the standard model.
Exclusive features of the editions
The Sébastien Ogier edition features Matte Stealth Gray paintwork and commemorative decals on the front sides. The interior receives specific badges and stitching in tones that refer to the French pilot’s career.
This version includes two new all-wheel drive modes: Morizo, developed by the former president of Toyota Akio Toyoda, and Seb, calibrated to prioritize precision in high-speed curves. Esses adjustments change the distribution of torque between the axles to optimize behavior on asphalt.
Custom driving modes
The Kalle Rovanperä edition adopts tricolor paintwork with red, white and gray tones. The external look features stripes that reproduce the style of the Toyota Gazoo Racing rally cars.
Unique modes include Kalle, which facilitates control on loose surfaces, and Donut, designed for controlled rotations with loss of rear grip. The calibration reflects the Finnish driver’s aggressive style on dirt tracks.
Technical specifications of the evolved model
The updated GR Yaris serves as the basis for both limited editions. The 1.6 turbo three-cylinder engine delivers 304 hp and 40.8 kgfm of torque in the latest configuration.
The six-speed manual transmission has the option of an eight-speed automatic in some markets. GR-Four all-wheel drive allows variable torque distribution, with programs Gravel, Track and Normal in addition to those exclusive to special editions.
The reinforced chassis includes additional welds in the body for greater torsional rigidity. The recalibrated suspension reduces body roll during high-speed cornering.
Differentiated design and finish
18-inch BBS alloy wheels equip both versions with a specific finish. The adjustable rear spoiler improves aerodynamic stability at high speeds.
The ventilated brakes have calipers painted in contrasting colors. The interior adopts sports seats with reinforced lateral support and a steering wheel covered in Alcantara.
Improved performance and drivability
The GR Yaris accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in around 5.2 seconds in the most powerful configurations. Top speed is electronically limited to 230 km/h.
The total weight below 1,300 kg contributes to the favorable power-to-weight ratio. Circuit tests demonstrate the ability to keep up with more expensive models on mixed tracks.
Handling benefits from intelligent all-wheel drive that adjusts torque in milliseconds. The special modes of the limited editions expand the possibilities of use on tracks or winding roads.
Context in the world rally championship
Toyota Gazoo Racing has accumulated consecutive WRC titles with drivers like Ogier and Rovanperä. The GR Yaris was developed to comply with the category’s homologation rules.
Victories in events such as Monte Carlo and Finlândia served as the basis for adjustments in the special editions. The pilots participated directly in the development of the traction modes.
European and Japanese markets receive the units
Sales of limited editions started at Japão in April 2024 with a price equivalent to around R$400 thousand converted. Na Europa, prices reach 60 thousand pounds in selected markets.
Demand exceeded initial expectations, with waiting lists in several countries. The units sold out quickly in the first batches made available.
Preparation for the Brazilian launch
The Toyota of the Brasil confirmed the arrival of the standard GR Yaris in April 2026. The model will be officially imported with adaptations for the local market.
The price has not yet been defined, but estimates point to a range above R$400,000 considering taxes and positioning. The dealership network undergoes specific training to serve owners.
The hot hatch will compete in a restricted segment with few direct rivals available nationally. All-wheel drive and manual transmission attract enthusiasts looking for a pure driving experience.
Aerodynamic and structural details
The redesigned front bumper improves airflow to the radiator. Side air vents reduce turbulence in the wheel arches.
The body structure gained 13% more rigidity with extra welds. The lower roof lowers the center of gravity compared to the regular Yaris.
Driver-focused interior
The digital instrument panel displays information specific to traction modes. The aluminum pedals facilitate the toe-to-heel technique.
The premium sound system comes standard on limited editions. Four-point seat belts are available as a factory option.
Comparison with the standard version
The special editions differ mainly in terms of traction modes and visual elements. The mechanical base remains identical to the evolved GR Yaris from 2024.
Collectors value exclusive items such as decals and numbered badges. The appreciation in the secondary market already appears in units resold at Europa.
The GR
The arrival at Brasil will meet a pent-up demand for performance models accessible only via independent imports until then. The official network will guarantee specialized technical assistance.
