Suzuki launched its first electric vehicle developed from scratch on the Japanese market, the e-Vitara, officially launched on January 16, 2026. The model marks the brand’s definitive entry into the era of electrification and stands out for its Z 4WD version, which combines high performance with premium comfort equipment.

Produced at Índia and designed for distribution in more than 100 countries, the compact SUV uses an exclusive platform for EVs called HEARTECT-e. Essa structure guarantees lightness combined with high rigidity, essential characteristics for safety and energy efficiency.

The immediate commercial highlight is the Japanese government incentives, which significantly reduce the cost of purchasing the top version until March 2026. Esses benefits make the model more accessible in a segment that is still expensive.

Platform and propulsion system

The HEARTECT-e base was developed specifically for electric vehicles and represents an important advance for the Suzuki. Ela allows for better weight distribution and greater internal space despite the vehicle’s compact dimensions.

The eAxle system integrates motor, inverter and reducer in a compact unit, contributing to high energy efficiency. Essa solution reduces losses and facilitates the installation of higher capacity batteries without compromising space.

In the Z 4WD version, two electric motors work together to deliver permanent all-wheel drive. The ALLGRIP-e system automatically adjusts the force distribution between the axles according to road conditions.

External design and dimensions

The e-Vitara features lines that combine SUV robustness with modern, clean elements typical of electric vehicles. The closed front grille reinforces the EV identity and improves overall aerodynamics.

Measuring 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,640 mm high, the model fits perfectly into the compact SUV category. Minimum ground clearance of 185mm ensures moderate off-road capability.

The 18-inch wheels and two-tone paint options with a black roof give it a striking visual presence. Cinco color combinations are available, most with contrast between body and roof.

The turning radius of just 5.2 meters makes it easy to maneuver in tight urban environments. Essa feature maintains the Suzuki tradition of agile and practical everyday vehicles.

Interior and comfort equipment

The e-Vitara Z’s cabin receives a premium finish with soft-touch materials and careful assembly. Dois large displays arranged horizontally dominate the panel and create a modern digital environment.

Configurable ambient lighting in 12 colors allows customization of the internal climate. The premium audio system delivers high sound quality in all usage situations.

  • Front and rear seat heaters
  • steering wheel heater
  • Electric parking brake
  • Fixed panoramic glass roof
  • High fidelity sound system

These items come standard in the Z version and raise the standard of comfort for the electric compact segment.

Performance and autonomy

The Z 4WD configuration uses a 61 kWh battery and two motors that together generate 135 kW of power and 307 Nm of maximum torque. Acceleration responds immediately thanks to the instantaneous delivery typical of EVs.

In the Japanese WLTC cycle, the model records a range of 472 km on a single charge. Esse number positions it well among direct competitors in the segment.

The ALLGRIP-e traction system distributes torque variably between the front and rear axles. On slippery floors, automatic control improves stability and safety.

The vehicle supports DC fast charging, recovering much of the battery in times compatible with long trips. Essa capacity reduces range anxiety on longer journeys.

Price and incentives available

The list price of the Z 4WD version reaches 4,928,000 yen including taxes. Esse value positions the model in the premium compact Japanese electric segment.

For registrations made between January and March 2026, the Japanese government provides a CEV subsidy of 1,270,000 yen. Adicionalmente, total exemption from vehicle weight tax represents extra savings of around 30,000 yen.

The next 75% reduction in annual car tax adds approximately 18,500 yen of benefit. Somados, the incentives amount to approximately 1,318,500 yen in direct savings.

These government measures aim to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the Japão. Elas make the e-Vitara Z 4WD a financially competitive option in the initial commercialization period.

Suzuki global strategy

Production at Índia allows controlled costs and facilitates exports to multiple markets. The model will be offered in more than 100 countries over the next few years.

Suzuki bets on practical and affordable electric vehicles to win over consumers who are still hesitant. The e-Vitara represents exactly this proposal with its compact size and versatile use.

The Japanese charging infrastructure is growing quickly and supports the initial rollout well. In other markets, expansion will depend on the local pace of installation of public points.

The brand maintains a tradition of building light and efficient vehicles even in the electric transition. Essa approach differentiates the e-Vitara from heavier offerings from larger competitors.

Positioning in the electrical market

The electric compact SUV segment gains a strong competitor with the arrival of the e-Vitara. The combination of incentive-adjusted pricing and comprehensive equipment attracts immediate attention.

Equivalent models from other brands generally require a larger initial investment without similar tax benefits. Essa temporary advantage positions Suzuki well in the current Japão.

The declared autonomy and electric 4WD system broaden appeal for consumers looking for real versatility. The model suits both urban use and occasional off-road trips.

The planned global expansion opens up interesting prospects for emerging markets. Neles, competitive cost can accelerate penetration of Japanese brand EVs.
