The Suzuki marked its definitive entry into the fully electric vehicle segment with the official launch of the e-Vitara on the Japanese market on January 16, 2026. The model, developed from scratch to be an EV, represents a strategic step for the automaker, with emphasis on the top-of-the-line Z 4WD version, which combines an advanced all-wheel drive system with a robust package of comfort and technology equipment.

Manufacturing of the compact SUV takes place at Índia, a decision aimed at optimizing production costs and facilitating global distribution. Suzuki plans to export the e-Vitara to more than 100 countries, positioning the vehicle as a fundamental pillar in its electrification strategy on a global scale, seeking to compete in diverse markets with an attractive value proposition.

One of the main attractions of the Japanese launch are the significant government incentives, valid for purchases until March 2026. Esses subsidies drastically reduce the final cost for the consumer, making the e-Vitara a financially competitive option in a segment where prices are still a barrier for many buyers.

Dedicated platform and propulsion system

The basis of the new e-Vitara is the HEARTECT-e platform, designed exclusively for electric vehicles. Essa innovative architecture was developed to optimize structural rigidity and keep the vehicle’s weight contained, two crucial factors to ensure occupant safety and maximize energy efficiency, resulting in greater autonomy.

The propulsion system uses eAxle technology, which integrates the electric motor, inverter and reduction box into a single compact and efficient unit. Essa engineering solution not only minimizes energy losses, but also frees up more space for the battery and the passenger compartment, improving the SUV’s internal use.

In the Z 4WD version, the model is equipped with two electric motors, one on each axle, which provide permanent all-wheel drive. The system, called ALLGRIP-e, intelligently and automatically manages the distribution of torque between the front and rear wheels, instantly adapting to road conditions to offer maximum stability and grip.

External design and dimensions

The look of the Suzuki e-Vitara balances the characteristic robustness of an SUV with the clean, aerodynamic design language of modern electric vehicles. The front stands out for its closed grille, an element that reinforces its EV identity and contributes to a better drag coefficient, optimizing airflow and battery life.

Measuring 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,640 mm high, the model fits perfectly into the compact SUV segment, ideal for urban use. The minimum ground clearance of 185 mm gives the e-Vitara the ability to tackle slightly uneven terrain, increasing its versatility beyond asphalt.

The vehicle’s visual presence is accentuated by 18-inch alloy wheels and five paint options, which include two-tone combinations with a contrasting black roof. Esses aesthetic details give the e-Vitara a sophisticated and contemporary appearance, in line with market expectations.

Agility in urban environments, a trademark of the Suzuki, is maintained thanks to a turning radius of just 5.2 meters. Essa feature makes maneuvering in parking lots and tight streets a simple task, reinforcing the practicality of the model for everyday use in large cities.

Interior and comfort equipment

Internally, the Z version of the e-Vitara offers a premium environment, with high-quality finishes and soft-touch materials that elevate the perception of value. The dashboard is dominated by two large digital displays arranged horizontally, one for the instrument panel and the other for the infotainment system, creating a modern and technological cabin. Ambient lighting, with 12 selectable colors, allows the driver to personalize the interior atmosphere according to their preference, while the high-fidelity audio system ensures an immersive sound experience for all occupants.

The list of standard equipment in the Z version is extensive and focused on well-being on board, surpassing many competitors in the segment. The model includes heating for the front and rear seats, as well as a heater for the steering wheel, items that are highly valued in cold climates. Comfort is complemented by the electric parking brake with auto-hold function and a fixed panoramic glass roof, which increases the feeling of space and light in the cabin, consolidating the e-Vitara as one of the best equipped in its category.

Performance and autonomy

The Z 4WD version is equipped with a 61 kWh lithium-ion battery, which powers the two electric motors. Juntos, they deliver a combined power of 135 kW (approximately 183 hp) and a maximum torque of 307 Nm. Graças the instantaneous power delivery, characteristic of electric vehicles, the e-Vitara offers vigorous acceleration and agile responses.

According to the Japanese WLTC test cycle, the model’s range is 472 kilometers on a single full charge, a competitive number that positions it favorably among its direct rivals. The SUV is also compatible with direct current (DC) fast charging systems, allowing it to recover a large part of the battery charge in a reduced time, which makes longer trips possible with greater peace of mind.

Price and incentives available

The Suzuki e-Vitara Z 4WD arrives on the Japanese market with a list price of 4,928,000 yen, including local taxes, positioning it at the top of electric compact SUVs. Contudo, the big difference during the launch period is the tax incentive package offered by the Japão government for zero emission vehicles (CEV), which makes the acquisition much more advantageous. Para vehicles registered by the end of March 2026, buyers are entitled to a direct subsidy of 1,270,000 yen. Além of this amount, there is a complete exemption from vehicle weight tax, which represents an additional saving of around 30,000 yen. Para completing the benefit package, the annual car tax subsequent to purchase is reduced by 75%, which equates to approximately 18,500 yen in savings. Somando all benefits, the total consumer discount amounts to around 1,318,500 yen, significantly reducing the initial investment and making the e-Vitara an extremely competitive proposition.

Suzuki global strategy

The choice of Índia as the e-Vitara production hub is a strategic move that allows Suzuki to take advantage of a more controlled cost base and efficient logistics for export. The plan to take the model to more than 100 countries demonstrates the brand’s ambition to become a relevant player on the global electric vehicle scene.

Suzuki’s philosophy of developing practical, light and efficient vehicles has been carried over into the era of electrification. The e-Vitara reflects this approach by offering a versatile SUV with compact dimensions, seeking to attract consumers who want to transition to an electric car without giving up functionality and a more affordable acquisition cost, especially when combined with local incentives.

Positioning in the electrical market

The arrival of the e-Vitara Z 4WD shakes up the electric compact SUV segment in the Japão. Sua combination of all-wheel drive, a generous list of standard equipment and a highly competitive final price, thanks to subsidies, puts it in a prominent position. Essa initial financial advantage is a crucial factor in attracting consumers’ attention and establishing a solid sales base right at the beginning of your commercial life cycle.
