Toyota officially presented the sixth generation of the RAV4, one of the best-selling SUVs globally, reinforcing its position as a reference in the segment. With more than 15 million units sold since its launch in 1994, the new model arrives with significant updates in design, engine and technology, consolidating the Japanese brand’s commitment to hybrid and electrified propulsion systems to meet the growing demand for more efficient vehicles.
The new generation appears at a strategic moment, seeking to regain leadership in global sales after the advance of electric competitors in recent years. Para This, the Toyota has improved the successful formula of the RAV4, combining the already known mechanical reliability with an important technological leap, especially in the plug-in hybrid versions (PHEV), which now offer greater autonomy in all-electric mode.
Orders for selected markets in Europa and América of Norte are expected to begin in January, with first deliveries scheduled for the second half of the year. The model maintains its balanced dimensions, measuring 4.60 meters long, 1.85 m wide and 1.66 m high, ensuring good maneuverability in urban environments and ample internal space for up to five occupants.
A more imposing and aerodynamic exterior look
The design of the sixth generation RAV4 has evolved towards more aggressive and contemporary lines, marking a clear break with the previous model. The front end has been completely redesigned, adopting full-LED headlights with a new and distinct light signature, which are integrated into a mostly closed front grille that displays hexagonal patterns, reinforcing the SUV’s visual identity. The bumper was also restyled, giving the vehicle a more robust and striking stance on the road, while optimizing air flow to improve aerodynamics and, consequently, energy efficiency, a crucial point for hybrid models.
At the rear, the changes continue to modernize the package, with redesigned lights that are now connected by an elegant horizontal bar that crosses the trunk lid, where the model name appears prominently. The rear bumper also incorporates elements that improve aerodynamics, and new alloy wheels, which can reach 20 inches in higher versions, complete the aesthetic package. Essas changes give the new RAV4 a more sophisticated and impactful appearance, without abandoning the visual identity that has made it recognizable over the years, balancing tradition and modernity.
Technological cabin and improved materials
The interior of the new RAV4 has undergone a profound transformation, with a focus on technology, ergonomics and perceived quality. The dashboard adopts a more vertical and clean layout, facilitating access to controls and creating a feeling of greater spaciousness for driver and passenger. The main attraction is the new multimedia center with an impressive 12.9-inch screen, which operates the ARENE system, a faster and more intuitive platform that offers remote updates (over-the-air) and advanced integration with smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Complementando the digital experience, a fully customizable 12.3-inch instrument panel displays driving information in a clear and modern way. The Toyota also invested in the quality of materials, with soft-touch surfaces on the dashboard and doors, increasing the perception of refinement and comfort. The list of convenience equipment has been expanded, including heated and ventilated front seats, induction cell phone charger, optional premium sound system and an Head-Up Display that projects essential information onto the windshield, minimizing distractions.
Performance and efficiency in hybrid engines
The new RAV4’s engine range continues to focus on the already established 2.5-liter gasoline engine, which works together with optimized electrical units to deliver more performance and lower fuel consumption.
The entry-level version is the conventional hybrid (HEV), which offers a combined power of 183 horsepower with front-wheel drive. Este set is capable of accelerating the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds and recording an average consumption of approximately 4.9 liters per 100 km.
Moving up the range, the first plug-in hybrid option (PHEV) increases power to 268 horsepower, also with front-wheel drive. Esta version represents a significant leap in performance, offering more vigorous acceleration and the advantage of greater electric range.
The top of the line delivers an impressive 308 combined horsepower and features intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD-i). Este system allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds, a remarkable performance that places it among the fastest in the segment.
Electric range and recharge capacity
Equipped with a 22.68 kWh lithium-ion battery, the plug-in hybrid RAV4 guarantees a minimum range of 100 kilometers in all-electric mode in a mixed cycle. Este competitive number allows most daily commutes to be made without consuming a single drop of fuel, reducing operating costs and emissions.
The charging system has also been enhanced for greater convenience, supporting alternating current (AC) chargers up to 11 kW and direct current (DC) chargers up to 50 kW. With a DC fast charger, it is possible to recover 80% of the battery charge in approximately 30 minutes, making it easier to use on longer trips.
Enhanced security with the new Toyota Safety Sense
The new generation of RAV4 comes equipped with the latest version of Toyota Safety Sense, the Japanese brand’s suite of driver assistance technologies. The system has been refined and now includes up to 15 active assistants to protect occupants.
Among the improvements, automatic emergency braking stands out with improved detection of pedestrians, cyclists and motorcycles, working with greater precision even at night. Outros features include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and traffic sign recognition.
The body structure uses high-strength steel at strategic points to ensure maximum protection in the event of a collision. Passive safety is complemented by multiple airbags, including side curtains and a front central airbag, which prevents front occupants from colliding in side impacts.
Versatility in the luggage compartment
The trunk of the new RAV4 offers a capacity of 514 liters in conventional hybrid versions, a generous volume for the category. Já in plug-in hybrid configurations, due to the space occupied by the larger battery under the floor, the volume is 446 liters. With the rear seats folded down, the total space reaches 672 liters, with a flat floor that facilitates the transport of long and bulky objects, maintaining the model’s characteristic versatility.
Structure of versions and finishes
The new Toyota RAV4 line will be structured into four main trim levels: Advance, Spirit, Limited and the version with sporty appeal GR The entry-level version Advance is well equipped as standard, with 18-inch wheels, front and rear parking sensors, and heated front seats.
The intermediate version Spirit adds style and comfort items, such as two-tone exterior paint, 20-inch wheels and a panoramic sunroof. The Limited and GR Sport versions are exclusive to the most powerful engines with all-wheel drive, with the GR
