Acemagic announced the arrival of a new compact computer on the Chinese market, the Retro X3, which stands out for combining a design inspired by classic consoles with modern hardware specifications. The device arrives in a barebones configuration, allowing users to customize components such as RAM and storage, offering greater flexibility and a more affordable cost of entry.
Powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor, the mini-PC promises high performance for a variety of tasks, from everyday productivity to light gaming and emulation. With dimensions of just 128 x 128 x 44 millimeters, the equipment was designed to take up minimal space and can be easily integrated into any work setup or home entertainment center.
The initial launch is focused exclusively on the China, priced at 1,899 yuan. Essa strategy positions the Retro X3 as an intermediate option within the company’s retro-themed product line, attracting both technology enthusiasts and consumers looking for a different aesthetic for their equipment.
Design and external features
The chassis of the Acemagic Retro Apesar classic appearance, the case design was designed to ensure efficient heat dissipation, essential for maintaining the performance of internal components.
One of the main design differences is the tool-less opening system. Painéis sides with release buttons allow the user to remove the top cover in seconds, providing easy access to memory and storage slots. Essa feature is especially advantageous for those who plan to carry out future upgrades or periodic maintenance, eliminating the need for advanced technical knowledge to install new components. Weighing approximately 406 grams, the device is also extremely portable.
AMD Ryzen processor performance
The heart of the Retro Esta processing unit has eight cores and sixteen threads, which makes it capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a fluid and efficient way. The processor operates at a base frequency of 3.8 GHz, but can reach up to 5.1 GHz in boost mode, ensuring agility in the execution of demanding software and the overall system response. Além In addition, the 16 MB of L3 cache helps accelerate data processing, reducing bottlenecks and optimizing performance in productivity, image editing and virtualization applications. The absence of an Unidade of Processamento Neural (NPU) indicates that the model’s focus is on raw CPU and GPU performance rather than AI-accelerated tasks, which contributes to its more competitive price positioning compared to the brand’s other models.
Radeon 780M graphics capacity
Integrated into the Ryzen 7 processor, the Radeon 780M graphics unit is responsible for video and gaming performance. Baseada in the RDNA 3 architecture, the same one used in AMD’s latest graphics cards, this iGPU has 12 computing units that deliver surprising performance for an integrated solution. Ela is capable of running lighter games and e-sports titles in 1080p resolution with satisfactory frame rates, in addition to being an excellent option for emulating old consoles, complementing the retro design proposal.
For productivity and media consumption tasks, the Radeon 780M supports high-resolution video decoding, including 4K, ensuring smooth, stutter-free content playback. The ability to manage up to three displays simultaneously also makes the Retro X3 a powerful tool for professionals who rely on an expanded workspace for multitasking.
Memory and storage flexibility
The barebones configuration of the Retro X3 offers complete freedom for the user to define memory and storage capacity. The mini-PC has two SODIMM slots that support up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM at 5600 MHz. The use of two modules allows the activation of dual-channel mode, which doubles the communication bandwidth between the memory and the processor, resulting in a significant performance gain, especially for the integrated GPU.
In terms of storage, the device has two M.2 2280 slots compatible with PCIe 4.0 technology. Isso allows the installation of ultra-high-speed NVMe SSDs, which drastically reduce operating system, application and game loading times. Cada slot supports drives up to 4TB, enabling a total capacity of up to 8TB of fast storage, more than enough space for large file libraries, games, and professional projects.
Wide connectivity options
Despite its compact size, the Acemagic Retro X3 doesn’t skimp on ports and connectivity. The front panel is designed for quick access, including a USB-C port with USB4 technology, which offers transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps, two USB-A 3.2 ports, and a combo audio jack for headphones and microphone. The USB4 port is particularly versatile, as it allows you to connect monitors, docking stations and even external video cards (eGPUs), drastically expanding the mini-PC’s capabilities.
On the back, the variety of connections continues, with an HDMI 2.1 port and a DisplayPort 1.4, which, together with the front USB-C port, enable support for up to three simultaneous monitors. Para network connection, there is a 2.5 Ethernet port, ideal for those who need a stable and high-speed internet connection. The rear panel also has two USB 3.2 ports and two USB 2.0 ports, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of peripherals.
For wireless connections, the device comes equipped with the latest technologies. Support for Wi-Fi 6 ensures a fast, low-latency connection to compatible networks, while Bluetooth 5.2 allows you to connect keyboards, mice, controllers and other accessories without the need for cables, keeping your work environment cleaner and more organized.
Internal cooling system
To ensure that the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor operates at its maximum performance without overheating, the Retro X3 uses an active cooling system. Este system consists of a silent fan and a heat duct that directs airflow directly over the processor and other critical components. The air intakes are located on the sides of the chassis, while the hot air outlet is at the rear, creating an efficient airflow that prevents dust accumulation and keeps internal temperatures under control, even during long sessions of intense use.
Price and market availability
The Acemagic Retro X3 was launched on the Chinese market for a price of 1,899 yuan in its barebones version. In a direct conversion and without considering import taxes and fees, the value is equivalent to approximately R$1,450. Esta aggressive pricing strategy makes the device an attractive option for consumers who seek high performance in a compact form factor and already own or prefer to choose their own RAM and SSD modules.
To date, Acemagic has not released information regarding the availability of the Retro X3 in other markets, including the Brasil and Europa. The company’s initial focus appears to be consolidating the product in the Chinese domestic market, but the possibility of a future global launch is not ruled out, depending on the product’s initial reception.
