A partnership between the e-commerce platform Nuvemshop and Meta has been made official, bringing significant innovation to digital retail at Brasil. The new functionality allows the entire purchasing process, from choosing the product to confirming payment, to be carried out entirely within the WhatsApp application, without the need for redirection to external websites.
The initiative, presented during the D2C event Summit in São Paulo, is the first of its kind in the world and was developed with an exclusive focus on the particularities of the Brazilian consumer. The technology’s main objective is to simplify the purchasing journey in the direct-to-consumer (D2C) sector, one of the fastest growing in the country.
The solution promises to transform the shopping experience, making it more fluid and agile. By keeping the customer within a familiar environment like WhatsApp, companies hope to reduce cart abandonment and, consequently, increase sales conversion rates.
How the new technology works
The basis of the new tool is the integration of Nuvem Chat, an artificial intelligence assistant from Nuvemshop, with the official WhatsApp API Business. Através this connection, consumers can interact with an advanced chatbot to view product catalogs, ask questions about specifications and add items to the shopping cart directly in the chat window.
After selecting the products, the process is completed with payment options that include Pix and credit card, processed securely within the chat itself. The customer can also monitor the order status and receive tracking updates in the same environment, centralizing all post-sales communication and improving the user experience.
The development of artificial intelligence
The Nuvem Chat project began at the beginning of the year, with the initial objective of improving automated support for store owners’ customers. The development team dedicated the last few months to building and integrating the payment module, considered the most complex and innovative component of the tool.
The technology employs agentic AI, a system capable of interpreting user intentions in natural language and accessing information in real time, such as stock availability, product variations and delivery times. Segundo Martin Palombo, co-founder and product director at Nuvemshop, development was guided by constant feedback from partner retailers.
Implementation for retailers was designed to be simple, allowing configuration in a few minutes through the platform’s administrative panel. The initial release of the functionality is being done gradually, starting with a restricted base of a thousand retailers selected for the testing and validation phase.
Advantages for digital entrepreneurs
The main advantage for the more than 100 thousand merchants of Nuvemshop in Brasil is the potential increase in the conversion rate. Dados company internals indicate that eliminating clicks and redirects to external pages can increase sales volume by up to 20%, a significant gain for any e-commerce operation.
Centralizing service on WhatsApp, the most popular messaging app in the country, optimizes the sales team’s time and establishes a direct and efficient communication channel. The tool guarantees support available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, qualifying leads and resolving queries automatically.
The solution also integrates natively with Nuvem Pago, the platform’s own payment system, which guarantees safe and transparent transactions for both the retailer and the consumer. With this, entrepreneurs gain more agility to manage sales, support and logistics in a unified ecosystem.
Another relevant benefit is the ability to analyze the data generated in conversations. Retailers can extract valuable insights into consumer behavior, frequently asked questions and purchase objections, using this information to optimize their marketing, inventory and product development strategies.
Synergy with the Meta ecosystem
This collaboration with Nuvemshop reinforces Meta’s strategy of positioning WhatsApp as a robust business tool that goes far beyond personal communication. Tarcísio Ribeiro, director of monetization partnerships at Meta, highlighted that the initiative strengthens the concept of conversational commerce in the country. The use of WhatsApp
The announcement comes at a strategic time, as commercial use of WhatsApp grew approximately 30% in the last year in the Brasil, according to specialized market reports. With more than 120 million active users, the country represents an extremely fertile environment for the expansion of digital retail and new sales technologies. Nuvemshop positions itself as a provider of complete solutions, combining chat, payments and marketing in an integrated and accessible offer for entrepreneurs, with plans starting at R$49 per month.
Brazil as a pioneer in agentic trade
The choice of Brasil as the first country to receive this technology was not by chance. The decision is based on its relevance as the largest and most mature digital market in América Latina and the very high penetration of WhatsApp among the population, who use it for various daily purposes. The initiative inaugurates what Nuvemshop defines as “agentic commerce”, a sales model in which artificial intelligence acts as an active agent, guiding the consumer through the entire purchasing journey in a fluid, personalized and frictionless way. Alejandro Vázquez, president and co-founder of the company, highlighted that the ultimate objective is to humanize online sales, allowing AI to respond in each brand’s specific tone of voice, creating a closer and more relational shopping experience. Fundada in 2011 at Argentina, Nuvemshop already operates in five countries and recorded a total sales volume of R$4.7 billion, consolidating its regional leadership position. The company plans to invest R$55 million in AI to develop new tools.
Requirements and early adoption
To use the new payment functionality via WhatsApp, merchants must have an active subscription to one of Nuvemshop’s paid plans and have a verified business account on WhatsApp Business. Initial tests are being conducted with brands in sectors with high online engagement, such as fashion, cosmetics and electronics, who are already reporting simple setup and quick synchronization of their product catalogs with the platform.
