The Dacia redefines the standards for compact SUVs in the European market with the official presentation of the new Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4 version. The model stands out for being the only one in its segment to combine a four-wheel drive system with an electric motor, a 48-volt mild-hybrid propellant and dual-fuel power, using both gasoline and Gás Liquefeito of Petróleo (LPG).
This innovative configuration allows the vehicle to operate in electric mode under a variety of driving conditions and offers a total combined range that can reach 1,500 kilometers with both tanks full. The powertrain consists of a 1.2 three-cylinder turbo engine that generates 140 horsepower, working together with a 31 horsepower rear electric motor.
The engineering solution was developed in-house by Dacia with the aim of maintaining the appeal of all-wheel drive SUVs without compromising CO2 emissions targets. The new Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4 is now available for order in several Europa markets, with prices that position it as an extremely competitive option in its category.
An innovative and versatile engine
The heart of the Dacia Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4 is a complex and highly coordinated propulsion system designed to maximize both energy efficiency and off-road capability. The main engine is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo with 140 horsepower, integrated with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, which allows dual-fuel power supply with gasoline or LPG without the need for mechanical modifications.
The 31 horsepower electric motor, positioned on the rear axle, not only provides additional power, but also acts as a generator during regenerative braking, recovering energy that would otherwise be lost. Esta electric unit has its own two-speed transmission, which optimizes performance at low speeds and allows complete decoupling to reduce friction when 4×4 traction is not required.
Intelligent hybrid 4×4 traction operation
The all-wheel drive system of the Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4 is activated electronically and instantly, thanks to the dedicated electric motor on the rear axle. Under normal road driving conditions and at higher speeds, the vehicle operates in front-wheel drive, minimizing fuel consumption.
However, the system continuously monitors grip conditions and, at the first sign of slipping, activates the rear axle within a few milliseconds. Essa transition is imperceptible to the driver and guarantees maximum safety on slippery surfaces or rough terrain.
On urban routes, the system is capable of operating in fully electric mode for up to 60% of the time, using only the rear engine. Essa feature not only significantly reduces pollutant emissions in urban areas, but also improves acoustic comfort at low speeds, providing a quieter and smoother drive.
Autonomy and consumption as differentiators
The Dacia Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4 records an average approved consumption that varies between 5.5 and 5.6 liters per 100 km when using gasoline. Este number demonstrates the efficiency of the powertrain, even in a four-wheel drive vehicle.
When using LPG, consumption shows a slight increase, remaining in the range of 7.1 to 7.2 liters per 100 km, due to the lower energy density of this fuel. Mesmo thus, the values remain competitive for the category.
The combination of two tanks, each with a capacity of 50 liters (one for gasoline and the other for LPG), guarantees an impressive combined range that can reach up to 1,500 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.
CO2 emissions range between 116 and 126 g/km, in compliance with the strict Euro 6e-bis standards, which positions the model as an environmentally conscious alternative in the all-wheel drive vehicle category.
Off-road capability enhanced by electrical system
The presence of the electric motor on the rear axle offers a significant advantage for off-road driving, providing instant torque to improve traction on low-grip surfaces such as mud or sand. Essa immediate response allows for more precise control in challenging situations, while preserving the robustness characteristics that have established the Duster line. The ability to modulate force precisely and quickly increases the vehicle’s performance on difficult terrain, surpassing many traditional mechanical traction systems in agility.
The model offers specific driving modes that adjust the behavior of the propulsion and traction system. Entre they are in Auto mode, which automatically balances efficiency and performance; the Eco, which prioritizes fuel economy; the Snow, which optimizes traction on slippery surfaces; and Mud/Sand, which adjusts traction control for loose terrain, ensuring that the vehicle maintains grip and progression capacity in the most varied conditions of use.
Technological interior focused on functionality
The cabin of the Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4 has received important updates, with robust finishes and materials designed to resist intense use and the wear and tear of time, maintaining the brand’s philosophy of offering durability and practicality. The center console is dominated by an infotainment screen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, allowing fluid integration with smartphones and access to navigation, music and communication applications. The dashboard design was designed to be ergonomic and intuitive, with all controls easily accessible to the driver. The digital instrument panel displays hybrid system-specific information, such as real-time energy flow, battery charge level and active traction mode, allowing the driver to monitor the efficiency of the package and adapt their driving style to maximize fuel economy and electrical system performance.
Exclusive competitive advantages in the market
Currently, no other manufacturer in the compact SUV segment offers the combination of a mild-hybrid engine, dual-fuel LPG power and 4×4 traction with a rear electric motor. Essa exclusivity attracts consumers concerned about both operating costs and increasing emissions restrictions in European cities.
Prices and positioning at Europa
Prices for the Dacia Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4 start at 28,500 euros for the entry-level version Expression in selected European markets. The most equipped configurations, such as the Extreme and Journey versions, increase the value to around 30,000 euros, offering items such as a 360-degree camera and lane keeping assistant.
With this strategy, Dacia positions the model as an affordable option for consumers looking for a four-wheel drive vehicle, but do not want to give up energy efficiency and low operating costs, filling an important gap in the current market.
