Vasco and Chapecoense face each other this Thursday, at 8pm (Brasília time), at Estádio São Januário, in the second round of Campeonato Brasileiro. Cruzmaltino is looking for its first victory in the competition after defeat in its debut against Mirassol. Chapecoense arrives strong after victory in the first round and good recent performance in Campeonato Catarinense.
The Rio team comes from a goalless draw with Madureira at Campeonato Carioca, where Fernando Diniz spared starters. The match represents the debut of Vasco as home team in the national tournament. Chapecoense tries to maintain the momentum, with a solid defense and efficient attack in the last few games.
Probable lineups and absences of Vasco
Fernando Diniz has recent reinforcements available for the first time in Brasileirão. Brenner and Marino Hinestroza debuted with limited time on Carioca and can earn more minutes. Philippe Coutinho returns to the starting lineup after saving.
The coach must maintain the base with variations in attack. Quem is out includes Paulo Henrique, with pain in the left foot, and Jair, injured. The team seeks consistency at home to react in the table.
How Vasco arrives for the confrontation
Léo Jardim takes on the goal with the confidence demonstrated at the beginning of the season. The defense has Cuesta and Robert Renan in defense. In the middle, Thiago Mendes and Barros form a pair of midfielders.
In the offensive sector, Andres Gomez, Coutinho and Nuno Moreira create plays for the attacker Brenner. Johan Rojas appears as an option on the bank. The team needs to improve performance in São Januário.
Probable lineups and absences of Chapecoense
Gilmar Dal Pozzo maintains the system with three defenders for the duel. João Paulo returns after suspension and Giovanni Augusto returns from preservation. Everton can continue on the right side.
Two reinforcements are available: left-back Bruno Pacheco and striker Garcez. Rafael Thyere, Robert, Neto Pessoa, Bruno Matias and Mancha are still in the medical department.
Chapecoense in good shape before the game
The team from Santa Catarina scored 12 goals and conceded just three in the last three matches. The victory over Santos in the debut of Brasileirão and the positive result against Criciúma in the state increase confidence.
The team seeks to establish itself at the top of the table. Maintaining the tactical base favors the balance between defense and attack. Marcinho and Ítalo lead the offensive sector.
