The national electric vehicle market is witnessing the arrival of a new and important competitor with the arrival of Leapmotor, a Chinese manufacturer that begins operations in the country under the auspices of the Stellantis group. The brand’s offensive began in the second half of 2025 with the launch of two strategic models, the medium SUV B10 and the C10, targeting a segment increasingly contested by giants such as BYD and GWM.
The operation was carefully planned, with an initial network of 34 dealerships spread across the country. Parte of these stores operate in spaces shared with already consolidated brands from the Stellantis group, such as Fiat and Jeep, while others have exclusive showrooms, seeking to establish their own identity from the beginning.
The choice of the B10 as one of the flagships for the debut was not by chance. The model, similar in size to the Jeep Compass, was designed to compete directly with the sales leader BYD Yuan Plus, betting on a robust technology package, modern design and electrical performance to attract consumers seeking innovation and sustainability.
An SUV with design and dimensions for the global market
Developed with the ambition of serving demanding markets, the Leapmotor B10 stands out for its generous dimensions and contemporary look. Measuring 4.52 meters in length and with a wheelbase of 2.74 meters, the model offers ample internal space, surpassing direct competitors and ensuring comfort for all occupants. The design follows the minimalist trend of electric vehicles, with fluid lines, tapered headlights and a closed front grille, complemented by 18-inch wheels that reinforce its robust presence. The trunk, with a capacity of 420 liters, is competitive within the category, surpassing that of the Jeep Compass (410 liters), although it is slightly below other rivals such as the Toyota Corolla Cross. Essa combination of space, comfort and modern aesthetics positions the B10 as an attractive option for families and those who value an imposing vehicle.
Embedded technology as a competitive differentiator
Leapmotor invests heavily in technology to differentiate the B10 in the market. The interior is dominated by a 14.6-inch multimedia center, which serves as the command center for navigation, entertainment and various vehicle functions, including a curious karaoke mode. The instrument panel is fully digital, with an 8.8-inch screen that displays driving information in a clear and customizable way.
In terms of safety, the SUV comes standard with a complete driver assistance package. Recursos such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with active correction and adaptive cruise control are present in all versions. The most advanced configurations add blind spot warning and automatic parking assistant, systems that work with the help of 12 radars, a lidar sensor and multiple cameras, providing a semi-autonomous and safe driving experience.
Performance and autonomy of the electrical set
The B10 is powered by an electric motor installed on the rear axle, which develops 218 horsepower and 24.5 kgfm of torque. Essa rear-wheel drive configuration gives the SUV an agile and responsive drive, ideal for urban traffic and road trips.
To meet different usage profiles, the model is offered with two battery options. The first, with 56.2 kWh, provides a range of up to 380 kilometers, while the version with a 67.1 kWh battery increases the range to 460 kilometers, both measured using the Chinese cycle (CLTC). The expectation is that, under the conditions of use of the Brasil, the real autonomy will vary between 300 and 400 kilometers, a competitive number for the segment.
Stellantis’s strategy for electrification
The introduction of the Leapmotor in the country is part of a strategic move by the Stellantis to strengthen its presence in the growing electric vehicle market. Após modest results with models such as the Peugeot e208 and the Fiat 500e, the group chose to bring a brand with already consolidated technology to face strong Chinese competition.
The association with Stellantis gives Leapmotor a crucial advantage: credibility. The support of one of the largest automotive conglomerates in the world in areas such as distribution, after-sales and marketing is essential to building the confidence of the Brazilian consumer.
The dealership network, which combines exclusive stores and shared spaces, allows for rapid expansion of the brand’s reach, reaching a wider audience since its launch. Essa mixed approach optimizes costs and takes advantage of the group’s existing structure.
The competitive landscape of electric utilities
The Leapmotor B10 enters one of the hottest segments of the automotive market. The main opponent to be beaten is the BYD Yuan Plus, which has established itself as a sales leader thanks to a combination of competitive price, good autonomy and an expanding network.
In addition to it, the competition includes the future Geely EX5, expected to arrive soon and which also promises an advanced technological package and attractive design. The dispute extends to hybrid models from traditional brands, such as the Jeep Compass 4xe, which, despite having a higher price, attracts a loyal audience.
One of the biggest challenges for Leapmotor will be overcoming the barrier of distrust that some consumers still have towards new Chinese brands. The quality of the product and the efficiency of the after-sales service will be decisive for the success of the B10.
In this context, the partnership with Stellantis works as a seal of quality, helping to mitigate this initial resistance and position Leapmotor as a reliable and technologically advanced option on the national scene.
Brand expansion plans in the country
Leapmotor’s plans for the national market are ambitious and are not limited to the B10 and C10 models. The manufacturer has already confirmed its intention to launch two more vehicles by 2027, significantly expanding its portfolio to serve different consumer profiles.
One of the most popular models to arrive soon is the C16, a large SUV with capacity for six passengers, aimed at larger families. The fourth vehicle is still a mystery, but speculation points to the B01 sedan or a new generation of the T03 subcompact.
This planned expansion demonstrates the brand’s commitment to the local market, which goes beyond just importing vehicles, including investments in charging infrastructure and training the technical assistance network to guarantee quality after-sales service.
Next steps and schedule
The arrival of the B10 and C10 models at the end of 2025 marked just the first step of the Leapmotor. The brand’s planning follows a clear expansion schedule for the coming years. Para 2026, the expectation is the introduction of a third model, possibly the C16 SUV, consolidating the brand’s presence in the utility segment. In 2027, a fourth vehicle will be added to the range, diversifying the options available to the consumer. Paralelamente, the dealership network and charging points will continue to be expanded to support sales growth.
