Samsung officially announced the development of a new proactive artificial intelligence tool, called Now Nudges, which will be the main highlight of the One UI 8.5. The technology is set to debut with the highly anticipated Galaxy S26 line of smartphones, which are scheduled to launch in early 2026, promising to transform the way users interact with their devices.

The fundamental concept behind Now Nudges is to allow the smartphone to anticipate the user’s needs, automating routine tasks in an intelligent and contextual way. Instead of waiting for direct commands, the system will analyze usage patterns and information in real time to offer suggestions and take actions that simplify everyday life, functioning as a truly integrated personal assistant.

Essa innovation is the result of an in-depth collaboration with Google, using the Gemini Nano language model for processing directly on the device. This approach not only ensures greater speed and efficiency, but also reinforces user privacy, as sensitive data does not need to be sent to external servers for analysis.

How Now Nudges will work in everyday life

The functionality of the Now Nudges was designed to integrate fluidly and almost imperceptibly into everyday activities. Artificial intelligence operates in the background, analyzing the context of different applications to provide useful shortcuts. For example, when receiving a message from a friend on WhatsApp containing an address, the system will display a smart notification, a “nudge”, suggesting opening the location directly in Google Maps or Waze, eliminating the need to copy and paste the text manually. Da Likewise, when receiving a flight confirmation email, the tool can offer the automatic creation of an event on the calendar, with all the relevant details filled in, such as times, departure and arrival location. The technology will also be able to interpret the content of screenshots, suggesting actions such as sharing a specific image or extracting a phone number to initiate a call, optimizing tasks that currently require multiple steps.

The three pillars of new intelligent automation

The operation of Now Nudges is supported by three fundamental principles that guide its proactive actions, all focused on optimizing the user experience.

The first pillar, “Get Things Done Quickly”, focuses on accelerating tasks based on contextual information. Ele allows the system to identify opportunities for immediate action, such as suggesting sharing a contact after a conversation on the subject.

The second, “Fill Out Forms Easily”, aims to eliminate the repetitive process of entering information into service applications. AI will automatically fill in fields in apps like Expedia or DoorDash, using data stored securely on the device to speed up bookings and orders.

Finally, the third pillar, “Recall

Gemini Nano technology and on-device processing

The effectiveness of Now Nudges depends directly on local processing power, and the choice of Gemini Nano over Google is strategic. Este AI model is compact enough to run directly on smartphone hardware, which brings significant advantages in terms of speed of response and, crucially, privacy. Como user data, such as messages, emails and usage patterns, are processed locally, sensitive information remains on the device, mitigating security risks associated with sending data to the cloud.

To support this computational demand, the Galaxy S26 line will be equipped with next-generation processors, such as the expected Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. The Gemini Nano’s ability to process up to 20 billion parameters locally demonstrates the technological leap that allows such a sophisticated and integrated assistant to exist.

Availability and release schedule

The official debut of the Now Nudges is confirmed to take place with the launch of the Galaxy S26 family, during the Unpacked event scheduled for February 2026.

Before then, Samsung plans to make a beta version of the One UI 8.5 available to developers and test program participants. Espera This phase is expected to begin in December 2025, initially involving the most recent models of the time, such as the Galaxy S25 and the Z Fold 7.

The company also confirmed that the One UI 8.5 update will be extended to older devices, covering models launched from the Galaxy S22 line onwards.

However, it is important to note that the availability of all Now Nudges features will depend on the hardware capabilities of each device. Older Modelos may receive a feature-limited version, as on-device AI processing requires high computing power.

Integration with popular apps and ecosystem

One of Now Nudges’s greatest strengths will be its ability to interact with a vast ecosystem of third-party applications, which are essential in users’ routines.

The integration will extend to messaging apps like WhatsApp and Instagram, delivery services like DoorDash, travel platforms like Expedia, and navigation tools like Waze, making the user experience more cohesive and intelligent.

Benefits for the Brazilian market

Adapting Now Nudges to the Brazilian context has the potential to simplify several common digital interactions in the country. The AI could, for example, identify a conversation about a money transfer and suggest opening the banking app to carry out an Pix, or recognize the scheduling of a service and offer to create an automatic reminder.

In internal tests carried out by Samsung, proactive automation demonstrated the ability to reduce the number of manual user interactions by up to 500 million, a gain in efficiency that translates into time savings and a more pleasant and intuitive user experience.

The future of smartphone interaction from Samsung

With Now Nudges, Samsung signals a strategic shift in its approach to artificial intelligence, moving from a reactive model that relies on voice commands or taps to a proactive system that anticipates and serves the user. Essa evolution positions the brand at the forefront of innovation in mobile AI, focusing on a more human and contextualized interaction with technology.
