Suzuki has launched the new Across for the European market, a plug-in hybrid SUV that uses the platform and technology of the updated Toyota RAV4. The changes mainly focus on visual elements of the Japanese brand, such as the front grille with the prominent S logo. The model is now available for order in countries such as Holanda and reinforces the partnership between the two automakers.

The vehicle maintains dimensions close to those of the RAV4, measuring 4.63 meters in length, and adopts a powerful 306 horsepower mechanical package. E-Four all-wheel drive and varied driving modes allow use in different terrain conditions. The Suzuki highlights the efficiency of the plug-in hybrid system, although full details on electric range will still be released gradually.

The launch comes at a time of transition to electrified vehicles in the Europa, where strict emissions standards drive hybrid options. The Across is positioned as a premium alternative in the medium SUV segment. The automaker has not confirmed official prices, but estimates point to high prices on the continent.

Exterior design with its own identity

The new Suzuki Across features an exclusive front grille with a central S emblem, differentiating itself from the Toyota RAV4. The bumper gains squarer cutouts and a wide air intake, while the fog lights remain integrated. Essas changes give the SUV a more robust appearance.

The sides feature a high beltline and pronounced wheel arches, with 19-inch grayish wheels. Side skirts reinforce the adventurous look. At the rear, the integrated spoiler and smoked lights complete the set without radical changes.

Interior maintains premium standard

The cabin of the Across faithfully reproduces the layout of the RAV4, with a three-spoke steering wheel and Suzuki logo. The digital instrument panel measures 12.3 inches and integrates a head-up display for projected information. The 12.9-inch floating multimedia center centralizes the controls.

The predominantly dark finish includes a wireless charger for cell phones and five distributed USB-C ports. The joystick gearshift and electronic parking brake make daily use easier. The optional panoramic roof enhances the feeling of interior space.

High-performance plug-in hybrid system

The Across uses a 2.5 gasoline engine combined with two electric engines, delivering 306 horsepower in total. The approximately 20 kWh battery allows pure electric driving on urban routes. The E-CVT transmission directs power continuously to the wheels.

E-Four all-wheel drive automatically distributes torque between the axles. Quatro driving modes adapt the vehicle’s behavior to different situations. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h occurs in 6.1 seconds, according to preliminary data from the automaker.

Safety and assistance features

The ADAS package includes advanced-level semi-autonomous driving systems. Frenagem automatic emergency and lane maintenance operate at varying speeds. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert increase protection.

  • Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function;
  • Automatic parking assistant;
  • 360-degree cameras for maneuvers;
  • Traffic sign recognition.

These items come standard on most European versions.

Strategic partnership between Suzuki and Toyota

The collaboration between Suzuki and Toyota allows the former to access modern platforms to meet European emissions standards. The Across represents the continuity of this alliance, started with previous models. The exchange of technologies benefits both brands in specific markets.

The Suzuki gains a premium medium SUV without developing everything from scratch. Toyota indirectly expands its presence through additional volumes. Essa strategy optimizes production and development costs for electrified vehicles.

In the European context, the focus on plug-in hybrids meets demands for low emissions. Across helps Suzuki maintain a competitive portfolio. Outros fruits of the partnership include smaller models shared in selected regions.

Direct competitors in the segment

The Suzuki Across competes with the Nissan X-Trail and Mitsubishi Outlander in the plug-in hybrid SUV category. The Honda CR-V also appears as a direct rival in size and proposal. Esses models offer all-wheel drive and similar power.

  • Nissan X-Trail e-Power with series hybrid system;
  • Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV with a long tradition;
  • Honda CR-V with conventional hybrid options;
  • Kia Sportage PHEV in some configurations.

The choice depends on brand preferences and assistance network.

Availability and color options

The model already accepts orders in markets such as Holanda and Reino Unido. The Suzuki offers four color variations based on neutral tones. Preto, white and gray predominate in the initial options.

The automaker plans to gradually expand to other European countries. Detalhes about equipment packages vary by region. Acessórios compatible with the RAV4 can be adapted to the Across.

Market perspectives at Europa

The plug-in hybrid SUV segment is growing steadily on the European continent. Normas of stricter emissions favor models like the Across. Suzuki seeks to increase its participation in higher categories with this launch.

The combined efficiency attracts consumers looking to reduce fuel costs. Light off-road capability broadens mixed-use appeal. The model reinforces the brand’s presence in a premium niche.

The partnership with Toyota guarantees constant technological updates. The Across directly benefits from the developments applied to the RAV4. Essa synergy keeps the product competitive in the medium term.

The focus on electric all-wheel drive meets the needs of regions with harsh winters. The Suzuki positions the Across as a robust and efficient option. The launch consolidates the brand’s electrification strategy in the old continent.
