The long-awaited expansion of the German manufacturer’s mid-size line is in an advanced stage of testing on the roads of the Índia, confirming rumors about a new model focused on performance. The new motorcycle appears as a natural evolution of strategic industrial collaboration, aiming to fill the gap between the brand’s entry-level models and high-performance super sports cars. The project aims to deliver a machine capable of competing directly with established rivals in the 400 to 500 cc segment.
Technical details of the engine and performance
The heart of this new project is a 420 cm³ parallel twin engine, developed to offer an ideal balance between urban use and sporty circuit riding. Preliminary data indicates that the engine will be capable of generating a maximum power of 48 horsepower at 8,750 revolutions per minute, numbers that place it on direct par with the main competitors in the category. The estimated torque is 4.5 kgf.m, ensuring vigorous recovery and linear force delivery.
To optimize the operation of this new engine, engineering applied a delayed ignition order system, which provides a full-bodied sound and power delivery characteristics similar to V-shaped engines. Final assembly and calibration adjustments are being carried out with a focus on durability and thermal efficiency, essential for hot climate markets where the motorcycle will be widely sold.
Innovation in the transmission system
One of the major technological differences planned for the model is the introduction of an automated clutch system, developed in conjunction with the specialist F.C.C. Esta technology, preliminarily known as automated shift assistant, eliminates the need to manually operate the clutch lever both when starting and stopping. The system promises to simplify driving in dense urban traffic, reducing driver fatigue, without detracting from sporty gear changes at high speeds.
Aerodynamic design and track inspiration
The aesthetics of the motorcycle directly inherits the visual DNA of the renowned S 1000 RR, bringing aerodynamic solutions generally restricted to high-cost models to the medium-displacement category. The front fairing displays aggressive and cutting lines, integrating an LED optical assembly that defines the motorcycle’s visual signature. The sides of the fairing feature functional winglets (aerodynamic wings), designed to generatedownforceand increase front axle stability at high speeds.
Among the main elements that make up the visual and functional package, features focused on performance and ergonomics stand out:
– Spoilers integrated sides for better air flow and engine cooling;
– Conjunto Full LED lighting with daytime running lights (DRL);
– Painel of color TFT instruments with smartphone connectivity;
– Assento on two levels that favors the pilot’s fit in an attack position;
– Minimalist Rabeta with taillight integrated into the turn signals.
Cycling and chassis structure
The motorcycle’s structure uses a tubular trellis frame, a solution that offers adequate torsional rigidity and low weight, fundamental characteristics for agility in curves. The front suspension system adopts inverted forks with a gold finish, suggesting higher specification components that promise an accurate reading of the asphalt. At the rear, an adjustable monoshock absorber works together with the balance to ensure traction.
The braking system was sized to handle the extra power, featuring a large diameter front disc bitten by a radial caliper from the ByBre brand (a subsidiary of Brembo). The two-channel ABS system is standard, meeting strict global safety standards. The 17-inch light alloy wheels, with a five-spoke design, are shod with tires with a sporty profile, completing the dynamic package.
Strategic partnership and market positioning
This launch is the result of the consolidation of the partnership between the German brand and the Indian giant TVS Motor Company. The collaboration, which has already resulted in the successful 310 line, now goes up a notch in complexity and performance. Concentrated production in Índia allows for a competitive cost structure, essential to guarantee an attractive final price in emerging markets and in Europa.
The bike is expected to be officially revealed to the public at the end of 2026, during the Salão of Milão (EICMA), with global sales starting in the first months of 2027. The estimated price for the European market is around 7,500 euros. In a direct conversion to Brazilian currency, without considering import taxes or local fees, the value would be close to R$46,000, positioning it as a premium option within the medium engine capacity category.
In the competitive scenario, the new sports car will face strong rivals that already dominate important shares of the market. The Kawasaki Ninja 500 and the Aprilia RS 457 are direct competitors in terms of power and technology, while the Yamaha R3 races on the outside with a greater focus on agility. The Bavarian brand’s bet lies in the combination of superior onboard technology, such as the automatic clutch system, and the prestige of the emblem to win over new motorcyclists.
