Kawasaki Motores of Brasil confirmed the arrival of a new member for its high-displacement line in the national market starting in February. The model, which replaces the old Z family in the super naked category, relies on the “Sugomi” design concept and a significant mechanical update to compete in the premium segment. The brand’s strategy aims to strengthen its presence among liter motorcycles, offering a product that balances urban use with sporting performance on roads, maintaining the aggressive visual identity characteristic of the Japanese manufacturer.
The heart of the motorcycle has received a profound technical redesign, resulting in an in-line four-cylinder engine with capacity increased to 1,099 cm³. Esta change was obtained mainly by increasing the piston stroke from 56 mm to 59 mm, which changed the force delivery behavior. The propellant now generates a maximum power of 136 horsepower and a torque of 11.5 kgf.m, numbers that are managed by a new intake system and optimized valves to improve burning efficiency and gas flow.
Embedded and cycling technology
To manage the increase in performance, the brand’s engineering implemented a robust electronics package centered on a six-axis Unidade (IMU). Este system constantly monitors the position of the bike, acting directly on safety assistants such as traction control and the ABS braking system, which now has a curve management function. The technology allows drivers to select between four different driving modes, adapting the engine response and the intrusion of the electronic systems according to asphalt conditions or personal preference.
The transmission also underwent fine adjustments, with the lengthening of the fifth and sixth gear ratios. The purpose of this change is to reduce engine speed at cruising speeds, providing greater comfort on long journeys and improving fuel efficiency. The aluminum double-spar chassis has been retained to ensure the necessary rigidity, working in conjunction with the large-piston SFF-BP front suspension, designed to offer stability both under hard braking and rapid changes of direction.
SE version and connectivity features
In addition to the standard model, the Brazilian market will receive the Z1100 SE version, which features designer components for motorcyclists seeking greater technical refinement. Esta variant is equipped with Brembo Stylema front brake calipers and an Öhlins S46 rear shock absorber with remote preload adjustment. The front suspension of the SE version is also distinguished by its golden external tubes and specific internal settings, aiming for more precise impact absorption and more detailed feedback from the track surface.
In terms of interface, both versions have a new 5-inch color TFT panel. The display offers connectivity via Bluetooth through the Rideology app, allowing pairing with smartphones to view notifications and riding records. The system has been updated to support voice commands and turn-by-turn navigation, integrating telephone functions directly into the motorcycle’s dashboard, which reinforces the brand’s proposal to combine mechanical performance with the digital demands of today’s riders.
