The Brazilian electrified vehicle market recently received a new strong competitor for the access segment. The compact model Geely EX2 broke the symbolic barrier of a thousand units sold by the end of December, consolidating its presence on the country’s streets. Immediate commercial performance positions the vehicle as a solid alternative for consumers seeking energy efficiency.
Sales performance and strategy
Officially launched in November, the hatchback was quickly accepted by the public, with around 835 units sold in the debut month alone. Maintaining this pace in the following weeks confirmed the viability of the product compared to already established competitors. The automaker’s strategy was based on aggressive promotional values for the first batches, attracting the attention of buyers focused on the cost-benefit ratio.
The focus of the model is urban mobility, serving drivers who need agility in traffic and reduced operating costs. Além the competitive price, the focus on a robust equipment package and a functional design were decisive for the initial results. Rivalry in the entry-level sector has benefited the end consumer, who now has more technological options at dealerships.
Technical specifications and engine
The vehicle’s mechanical set was developed to deliver efficiency without compromising performance in city use. The car is powered by an electric motor mounted on the rear axle, capable of generating 116 horsepower and an instantaneous torque of 15.3 kgfm. Essa configuration ensures agility when starting off and overtaking, characteristics valued in traffic in large cities.
The system is powered by a battery with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry and a capacity of 39.4 kWh. According to the Inmetro measurement cycle, the set provides a range of up to 289 kilometers on a full charge. Para to make the owners’ routine easier, the vehicle supports rapid direct current (DC) recharging, allowing it to recover 30% to 80% of its energy in just 21 minutes.
Dimensions and use of space
One of the main differences between the project and its direct rivals is the optimization of internal space. With a total length of 4.13 meters, the hatch stands out for its generous wheelbase of 2.65 meters. Essa measurement is essential to guarantee comfort for passengers, especially for those traveling in the rear seat, offering legroom greater than the category average.
The brand’s engineering also prioritized load capacity. The trunk offers 375 liters in standard configuration, enough volume for monthly purchases or luggage for short trips. In situations that require the transport of larger objects, folding the seats increases this capacity to 1,320 liters. The use of the cabin reaches 85%, favored by the platform dedicated to trams that eliminates the central tunnel and allows for a flat floor.
Versions and competition
The range is offered in two main versions, differentiated by the level of finish and onboard technology. The entry-level option, called Pro, hits the market with a suggested price of R$119,990, featuring a 10.1-inch multimedia center and digital panel. Já the top-of-the-line version, called Max, costs R$135,100 and focuses on cutting-edge technologies, such as cameras with 540-degree vision and driving assistants.
The direct dispute with the BYD Dolphin Mini is the central point of the sales narrative. Embora the competitor maintains high volumes of registrations, the Geely EX2 tries to attract the buyer due to its technical details and superior dimensions. The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds and the eight-year warranty for the battery are arguments used to reduce initial distrust and consolidate the brand in the Brasil.
Security and active technology
Security is an important pillar in the construction of the compact. Todas versions leave the factory with reinforced body structure and multiple airbags. However, it is in the Max version that active safety technology stands out, offering features from the ADAS package (Avançados Systems from Assistência to Condutor), such as automatic emergency braking and lane change alert.
These systems use sensors and cameras to continuously monitor the vehicle’s surroundings, acting autonomously in critical situations. The presence of these technological items not only protects the occupants, but also contributes to a more relaxed and safe drive, aligning the model with modern road safety requirements.
