Toyota carried out dynamic evaluations of the Yaris Cross hybrid flex in Indaiatuba, within São Paulo, consolidating the model as one of the most efficient options on the national market. The compact SUV arrives to serve consumers who seek to reduce fuel expenses without giving up technology, with versions ranging between R$172,390 and R$189,990. The automaker’s strategic positioning aims to fill the entry gap for electrified vehicles, offering a robust alternative for everyday use in large cities.

Mechanical performance and energy efficiency

The mechanical set combines a 1.5 flex engine with two electric thrusters, delivering a combined power of 111 horsepower, which guarantees agility in urban sprints. Durante the test routes, the system demonstrated linear and silent operation, especially at low speeds, where electric traction predominates and the e-CVT transmission performs imperceptible shifts. The lithium-ion battery, positioned under the rear seat, automatically recharges when braking, eliminating the need for external sockets.

The consumption rates approved by the Inmetro indicate averages of 17.9 km/l in the city with gasoline, but practical evaluations indicated even more expressive numbers. In real urban traffic conditions and with ECO mode activated, the on-board computer recorded marks close to 19.8 km/l, exceeding official expectations. The energy flow monitored by the multimedia center helps the driver to adopt habits that maximize savings.

Interior comfort and safety package

With a wheelbase of 2.62 meters, the vehicle comfortably accommodates passengers in the rear seat, even those of larger stature, ensuring adequate space for legs and shoulders. The top-of-the-line version, XRX, offers a panoramic sunroof and a seven-inch configurable digital dashboard, as well as USB-C ports for second-row occupants. The 391-liter trunk meets family demands well for weekend trips and routine shopping.

Safety is reinforced by the Toyota Safety Sense package, which includes autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control. The lane keeping system and blind spot monitoring operate precisely, while the 360-degree camera makes maneuvering in confined spaces easier. The torsion beam rear suspension was calibrated to filter out irregularities in the ground, maintaining stability in tight curves.

Positioning against the competition

The model operates in a competitive price range, facing rivals with turbo engines, such as the Volkswagen T-Cross and Hyundai Creta, but with the exclusive difference of total electrification in this category. Embora competitors such as the Omoda 5 offer greater raw power, the Yaris Cross compensates with low operating costs and the brand’s characteristic mechanical reliability. The strategy focuses on the rational consumer who prioritizes energy efficiency and driving assistance technology.
