The Nissan factory in the Resende industrial complex, in the Rio of Janeiro, is preparing for a historic moment with the production of a vehicle that promises to redefine the brand’s presence in the sports utility vehicle segment. With a robust investment of R$2.8 billion, the Japanese automaker is betting on a complete renovation of its engineering and design for the national market. The project involves not only an aesthetic update, but a profound change in the engine and transmission, signaling an aggressive strategy to face established competitors.
The main focus of this new industrial phase is the replacement of the previous mechanical assembly with more efficient and responsive technologies. The Rio de Janeiro manufacturing unit was modernized to accommodate the platform that will give life to this new model, integrating advanced manufacturing processes that guarantee greater precision in assembly and finishing. The strategic move aims to capture a larger share of the compact SUV market, which continues to be one of the hottest and most sought-after in the Brazilian automotive scene.
Radical change in mechanics and performance
The big technical novelty lies in the abandonment of the traditional CVT transmission, known for its focus on linear comfort, in favor of an automated dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Esta mechanical change works in conjunction with an unprecedented 1.0 three-cylinder turbo engine. The new engine was calibrated to deliver 125 horsepower and a torque of 20.4 kgfm, figures that promise superior agility in urban traffic and safer restarts on highways.
Performance data indicates that the vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds, a competitive mark for the category. Energy efficiency was also prioritized in the development of the powertrain. Segundo preliminary measurements, ethanol consumption is 7.5 km/l in the city and 9.5 km/l on the highway. Quando fueled with gasoline, the figures rise to 11.0 km/l in the urban cycle and reach 13.2 km/l on highway routes, balancing performance with fuel economy.
Enlarged dimensions and load capacity
The physical growth of the utility is another highlight of the project developed in Resende. The new SUV has a total length of 4.36 meters, which represents a significant gain compared to previous generations of the brand’s vehicles in this segment. The width was established at 1.81 meters and the height at 1.59 meters, proportions that give the car a more robust stance and more imposing road presence.
The increase in external dimensions directly reflects the internal space and versatility of use. The trunk now offers a volumetric capacity of 432 liters, positioning the model as one of the most spacious options in the category. Este increase in cargo capacity aims to serve families who need luggage space on long trips, without compromising the comfort of passengers in the rear seat, who also benefit from the new wheelbase.
Embedded technology and connectivity
The vehicle’s interior is undergoing a digital revolution, aligning with global trends towards integrated cockpits. The dashboard stands out for its double screen arrangement, where the instrument panel and multimedia center merge into a single piece. Ambas the screens are 12.3 inches, offering high resolution and intuitive interfaces for the driver. The system guarantees full compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, allowing smartphone mirroring without the need for cables.
In terms of active safety, the technological package is comprehensive. The model incorporates a camera system with 360-degree vision, facilitating maneuvers in tight spaces. Além In addition, driving assistance features (ADAS) are present, including lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control. Estas features raise the vehicle’s safety level, placing it on technological parity with models from higher segments.
Market positioning and arrival forecast
Nissan’s commercial strategy positions this new SUV in a price range that varies between R$150,000 and R$180,000, depending on the version and options chosen. Este value range puts the launch on a direct collision course with the top-of-the-line versions of current sales leaders. The automaker seeks to attract consumers who value the modernity of the design and the efficiency of the new turbo mechanical assembly.
The official schedule points to a launch in June, with the first units arriving at dealerships shortly thereafter. The expectation is that a pre-sale period will open in May, allowing the first interested parties to reserve the vehicle. With local production in Resende, the brand ensures agility in the distribution and supply of parts, crucial factors for post-sales success and maintaining the car’s resale value.
