Theia Sky Ruins and Ilha from Eos are preparing for a significant transformation in the competitive landscape of the franchise’s MOBA. Starting February 27, which marks the series’ 30th anniversary, trainers will have access to the iconic Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres as playable characters, beginning a new phase focused on accessibility for newcomers and nostalgia for veterans. The developer’s strategy aims to reduce barriers to entry, simplifying complex systems without sacrificing the tactical depth of matches.

Zapdos will be the first to land in the arena, leading a sequence of dedicated events that will gradually introduce the legendary birds. The update is not just about including new fighters, but implements a structural review in the way skills are selected and acquired. The stated goal is to make the battle experience more intuitive, allowing new users to quickly understand the flow of the game while old players return to check out what’s new.

Tactical functions and abilities of birds from Kanto

Each member of the legendary trio will occupy a specific role within the five-on-five compositions, bringing mechanics that reflect their original elements. The distribution of roles was designed to cover different strategic needs, from protecting objectives to direct offensive against opponents.

  • Zapdos (Attack):Especializado in area damage, uses electricity to control space and eliminate priority targets quickly, with an Unite movement that destroys defenses.
  • Articuno (Defense):Foca in crowd control and protection, creating blizzard zones that repel enemies and apply paralysis through intense cold.
  • Moltres (Balanced):Combina sustainability and offense, using flames to regenerate health while maintaining constant pressure on the battlefield.

Trainers will be able to obtain these licenses through sequential events that only require active participation and completing missions, without additional coin costs. Detalhes details on damage multipliers and cooldowns should be published in the coming days.

Simplification of routes and standardization of prices

One of the most impactful changes in this update is the introduction of a unique movement route system for the new Pokémon released from now on. Unlike previous characters, which allowed you to mix different combinations of attacks, the new fighters, including the legendary trio, will have a fixed and pre-determined skill evolution path. Essa measure aims to eliminate incompatible choices that often hindered the performance of inexperienced players.

To reflect this change in complexity, the cost of new licenses has been adjusted and standardized. Todos new characters with a unique route will cost 590 gems in the game’s official store. Essa value fixation replaces the previous fluctuation, which ranged between 345 and 840 gems, facilitating users’ financial planning. Vale emphasize that the previously launched Pokémon will maintain their two movement routes and their original prices, preserving the strategic variety already established.

New modes and competitive map rotation

In addition to the new characters, the match infrastructure will receive improvements aimed at training and diversity of scenarios. Starting February 26th, the day before Zapdos arrives, the Solo mode will be implemented, allowing players to practice against the CPU in progressive stages to earn rewards such as item upgrades.

The competitive scenario will also be renewed with the change of the ranked match map to Theia Sky Ruins, featuring Groudon as the central objective. The developer has already announced that future rotations will include variants with Rayquaza and Kyogre, ensuring that map control tactics will need to be constantly reviewed by teams.
