This Thursday (20), Tarsier Studios made official the launch schedule for its new intellectual property, defining February 13, 2026 as the date of arrival of the title on the global market. The announcement occurred during the Xbox Partner Preview broadcast, where it was also confirmed that the game will be available simultaneously for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG) and for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.

Junto with the reveal of the date, the developer immediately made a free demo version available on PlayStation Store, exclusive to the Sony console at this first moment. The content allows players to experience the initial stages of the narrative, focusing on the search for the character Hood in an abandoned mill setting, serving as an introduction to the tension and atmosphere mechanics.

The new production marks the return of the creators of the Little Nightmares franchise to the horror genre, this time under the umbrella of THQ Nordic and as part of Amplifier Studios. The proposal maintains the Swedish studio’s striking visual identity, but promises to deliver a narratively denser and darker experience, exploring childhood traumas in a world distorted by a mysterious flood.

The suggested price for the standard edition was set at US$39.99, placing the title in a competitive range. Haverá is also a digital deluxe edition for $59.99, which grants access to a season pass with three additional story chapters and exclusive cosmetic items such as the Foxhead and Muttonhead masks, extending replay value for genre enthusiasts.

Survival and cooperation mechanics

Reanimal’s gameplay was designed with a primary focus on cooperation, although it offers full support for solo mode, where the player alternates control between the two protagonist brothers. Exploration and stealth form the pillars of the experience, requiring characters to work in concert to overcome physical obstacles and avoid direct confrontations with the threats that inhabit the island.

One of the technical differences highlighted in the trailer is the use of a shared camera that directs the players’ attention, increasing the feeling of claustrophobia and tension. Essa design choice forces precise coordination, especially when solving collaborative puzzles that block progress through flooded environments and decaying ruins.

Revealed gameplay sequences show the brothers sailing through dark waters in small boats and evading deadly traps. Cooperation becomes vital for survival, especially when encountering grotesque and deformed creatures, like Farejador, that require distraction strategies and silent movement to avoid.

  • The game system allows alternating control between the Menino and the Menina in single-player mode.
  • Online co-op mode supports two participants and uses DualSense features on PS5.
  • Each protagonist has complementary skills essential for progression on the map.

Environmental narrative and atmosphere

The plot places players on an island that, after suffering a devastating flood, turned into a labyrinth of dangers and fragmented memories. The environment is built to reflect childhood fears, mixing elements of an abandoned civilization with physical manifestations of nightmares, creating a scenario where vulnerability is constant.

Diferente Like other action-focused horror titles, the narrative here is told in a minimalist and ambient way. The story unfolds through chapters that reveal, in a subtle way, the secrets behind the disappearance of the protagonists’ friends, using scarce dialogue and visual clues spread across the scene.

The art direction focuses on a “handmade” aesthetic, reinforcing the feeling of strangeness and discomfort, while the oppressive soundtrack complements the immersion. The initial demo covers the brothers’ reunion and first contact with local threats, setting the stage for a journey that should last between 8 and 10 hours in the full version.

Release strategy and testing

The availability of the demo on PlayStation 5 follows a strategy of expanding access, following the success of tests carried out during Steam Next Fest in October 2025. The feedback obtained in these previous phases was crucial for refining the mechanics, ensuring that the balance between tension and gameplay was maintained.

Pre-sales have already started in all digital stores, offering bonuses for early purchases. THQ Nordic confirmed that the game prioritizes accessibility in cooperative mode, including options to adjust the difficulty of puzzles, aiming to reach both experienced players and newcomers to the genre.

With the development of mechanics tested in beta phases since 2024, the team sought to eliminate common frustrations in cooperative games. Post-launch support is also planned, with technical fixes and the delivery of season pass content, without the inclusion of microtransactions that affect gameplay.
