Toyota plans to launch a significantly evolved version of the Harrier, its premium midsize SUV aimed at urban use, in 2027. The model will adopt an SUV coupe format with a total height of around 1600 mm, which represents a notable reduction compared to the current one, emphasizing more sporty and elegant lines. Essa change aims to enhance aesthetic appeal without compromising daily functionality. The wheelbase will be extended to 2770 mm, using the GA-K platform, the same one used in the Crown Sport, allowing greater internal space for passengers and luggage despite the lower silhouette.

The new design maintains the essence of the Harrier as a refined asphalt vehicle, with a gently sloping roofline at the rear. Essa configuration creates a dynamic coupe look, suited to urban environments where style counts as much as practicality. The reduced height highlights the focus on performance and sophistication, differentiating it from taller traditional SUVs.

Lower, sportier design defines the new generation

The new Harrier prioritizes an aerodynamic and elegant profile. Reducing the height to around 1600 mm makes the vehicle visually more aggressive and modern.

The conceptual images show tapered headlights and an integrated front grille, elements that reinforce the premium identity of the Toyota. The rear features connected lights and a subtle spoiler, accentuating the coupe character.

GA-K platform expands internal space and stability

The adoption of the GA-K platform contributes to better structural rigidity and drivability. The wheelbase lengthened to 2770 mm ensures more comfort in the rear seats.

This increase compensates for the lower height, offering greater livability than the current model. Passageiros gain preserved leg and head space.

The modern chassis improves stability in curves and reduces the center of gravity, favoring more precise driving on paved roads.

Hybrid powertrain with new 1.5 turbo engine debuts in the model

The technical highlight is the new 1.5 liter turbo engine, which delivers 180 hp of power and 24.0 kgfm of torque when operating alone. Esse propellant integrates conventional (HEV) and plug-in (PHEV) hybrid systems.

Combined with an electric motor of approximately 185 hp, the package promises a balance between performance and energy efficiency. The configuration maintains the hybrid options of the current Harrier, but raises the level of technology.

The strategy reinforces Toyota’s commitment to electrification, meeting demands for lower consumption without sacrificing power.

Focus on urban use and premium refinement

The Harrier evolves to serve drivers who value elegance and technology in city environments. The SUV coupe design meets global trends for stylized SUVs.

The lack of intense off-road capabilities confirms its positioning as a premium asphalt vehicle. The model must offer a high-quality interior finish, with refined materials and advanced connectivity.

Evolution maintains Harrier’s identity in the market

The current Harrier already stands out for its comfort and sophisticated style. The new generation expands these attributes with more dynamic proportions.

The launch in 2027 is expected to consolidate the Harrier as a reference in premium medium SUVs in the Japão and selected markets. The combination of design, space and hybrid powertrain advances the segment standard.

Toyota continues to invest in updates that combine tradition and innovation. The new Harrier represents another step in this direction.
