Sony confirmed the new selection of titles that will join the PlayStation Plus Essential subscription service catalog next month, bringing a variety that ranges from sports simulators to science fiction adventures. On February 3, active members were able to download four different works at no additional cost, covering genres ranging from boxing simulation to open-world exploration.

The games will be available for redemption for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 owners, depending on the compatibility of each version. The availability window follows the company’s monthly pattern, allowing users to add games to their digital library permanently, as long as they keep their subscription to the service active.

Monthly Library Highlights

The official list includes renowned experiences and launches that seek to reach different player profiles. Abaixo, check out the details of the games selected for the period:

  • Undisputed (PS5): A boxing simulator focused on realism, developed by Steel City Interactive, which features a licensed cast of fighters and technical combat mechanics.
  • Subnautica: Below Zero (PS5 and PS4): The sequel to the acclaimed underwater survival game, now set in an arctic region of planet 4546B.
  • Ultros (PS5 and PS4): A psychedelic metroidvania that mixes fluid combat with alien gardening in an intriguing time loop.
  • Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown (PS4): The renowned air combat game from Bandai Namco, which puts pilots on intense missions with photorealistic graphics.

Focus on realism and aerial combat

Undisputed arrives as one of the main attractions for combat sports enthusiasts, filling a gap in the boxing game market that has existed for years. The title stands out for its refined physics and faithful reproduction of the movements of real athletes, requiring players not only to have quick reflexes, but also a strategy to manage resistance and positioning in the ring during clashes.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown continues the franchise’s tradition of offering an accessible yet in-depth flying experience with a compelling military narrative. Embora is a native title from the previous generation, it runs via backwards compatibility on the most current console, maintaining the visual fidelity of the aircraft and dynamic weather scenarios that influence piloting.

Exploration and psychedelic art

For players who prefer science fiction and survival narratives, Subnautica: Below Zero expands the series’ universe with new thermal challenges and never-before-seen creatures. The gameplay maintains the addictive cycle of resource gathering and base building, but introduces a more straightforward story focused on investigating mysterious events in an icy, hostile biome.

Ultros, in turn, offers a visually unique proposal with its hand-drawn art and vibrant colors that recall 70s science fiction. The time loop mechanic encourages the re-exploration of scenarios, allowing the player to cultivate plants that open new paths and alter the game’s ecosystem.

Both titles reinforce Sony’s strategy of mixing major productions with high-quality independent games in the monthly offering.

Deadlines and operation of the service

Subscribers will have until the beginning of March to digitally redeem games through the PlayStation Store, whether via console, application or web browser. It is essential to complete the process within this period to guarantee lifetime access to the titles for as long as the account is subscribed.

It is worth mentioning that the Essential subscription is the basic level of the Sony service, also necessary to access online multiplayer in most paid games. The library is renewed monthly, always on the first Tuesday of each month.
