The Dacia officially launched a new configuration for its successful sports utility vehicle, establishing new efficiency parameters for the compact SUV segment at the Europa. The model, called Duster Hybrid-G 150 4×4, stands out for being the only one in its category to integrate four-wheel drive with a triple propulsion system, which combines an electric motor, 48-volt mild hybrid technology and dual-fuel power supply accepting gasoline and Gás Liquefeito of Petróleo (LPG).
This innovative mechanical architecture was developed to maximize range without sacrificing off-road capability. With two fully filled fuel tanks, the vehicle promises to achieve a total autonomy of up to 1,500 kilometers, an impressive number for vehicles in this category. The powertrain is led by a 1.2 three-cylinder turbo engine, capable of generating 140 horsepower, working in harmony with a 31 horsepower rear electric unit.
The brand’s engineering focused on maintaining the attractiveness of all-wheel drive vehicles, circumventing the increasingly severe restrictions on CO2 emissions on the European continent. In-house development resulted in a product that balances performance and environmental responsibility. The model is now available for order in selected markets, with competitive prices starting at around 28 thousand euros, positioning it as an affordable alternative in the versatile utility vehicle niche.
Complex and efficient propulsion system
The heart of the new Duster lies in its highly coordinated drive system. The main internal combustion engine uses an optimized Miller cycle and is assisted by a 48V mild hybrid system, which allows operation on gasoline or LPG without the need for complex mechanical changes by the driver. The transmission is managed by a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, calibrated for smooth shifting and reduced fuel consumption.
On the rear axle, the innovation is due to the dedicated electric motor. Além to provide additional traction when necessary, this component acts as a generator during braking, recovering kinetic energy that would otherwise be wasted. Esta unit has its own two-speed transmission, which allows total decoupling when 4×4 traction is not required, reducing mechanical drag and improving efficiency at high speeds.
Electronic vehicle management prioritizes energy efficiency in urban scenarios. The system is capable of operating in all-electric mode for up to 60% of the time on city trips, using only the rear engine. Isso results in quieter driving, greater acoustic comfort for occupants and a significant reduction in pollutant emissions in densely populated areas.
Intelligent all-wheel drive operation
The SUV’s four-wheel drive operates on demand, electronically managed to ensure safety and economy. Under normal driving conditions, such as dry and straight roads, the vehicle only drives the front wheels. However, sensors constantly monitor grip; upon detecting any loss of traction, the system activates the rear electric motor in a matter of milliseconds.
This transition between front and all-wheel drive occurs imperceptibly for the driver, guaranteeing immediate stability on slippery surfaces, mud or snow. The absence of a physical driveshaft connecting the front and rear axles not only reduces vehicle weight, but also eliminates mechanical friction losses, contributing to the overall efficiency of the design.
For specific terrain situations, the driver has a driving mode selector that adjusts the throttle response and torque distribution. Options include Auto mode, which balances performance and consumption; Eco, focado na economia máxima; Neve, para pisos de baixa aderência; and Lama/Sand, which adjusts traction control for loose terrain.
Consumption data and tank capacity
The efficiency of the new mechanical assembly is reflected in the approved consumption figures. Quando Operating exclusively on gasoline, the SUV records averages between 5.5 and 5.6 liters for every 100 kilometers traveled. Já with the use of LPG, due to the lower energy density of the gas, consumption increases slightly to the range of 7.1 to 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers.
The big difference in achieving record autonomy is the installation of two fuel tanks, each with a capacity of 50 liters. The combination of gasoline and gas volumes allows long-distance travel without the need for frequent stops to refuel, a feature valued by customers who use the vehicle for tourism or work in remote areas.
In environmental terms, the model meets the strict Euro 6e standards. Carbon dioxide emissions vary between 116 and 126 grams per kilometer, numbers that place the vehicle in a favorable position within the category of all-wheel drive cars, which are traditionally more polluting.
Embedded technology and market positioning
The interior of the vehicle received updates to keep up with the modernity of the mechanical set, maintaining the brand’s characteristic robustness. The instrument panel is now digital and provides data specific to the hybrid system, such as real-time energy flow, auxiliary battery charge level and the currently active traction mode. Connectivity is guaranteed by a multimedia center compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The manufacturer’s commercial strategy focuses on the exclusivity of the technical offer. Atualmente, no other direct competitor in the compact SUV segment in the Europa offers the combination of mild hybrid engine, dual-fuel system and electric 4×4 drive. Isso attracts consumers concerned with both daily operating costs and versatility of use.
The most equipped versions, such as the Extreme and Journey, raise the price to around 30 thousand euros, but add driving assistance technologies, such as cameras with 360-degree vision and lane keeping assistant. With this configuration, the brand reinforces its image of offering solutions with an excellent cost-benefit ratio, filling an important gap in the current automotive market.
