Honda confirmed important updates for the Step WGN minivan in the Japanese market, with the launch of the renewed line scheduled for May 2025. The main highlight of this update is the introduction of the unprecedented Air EX version, which arrives to expand consumer options and raise the standard equipment level of the family model. The automaker maintains its successful strategy by preserving the characteristics that consolidated the vehicle, focusing on sales stability and customer loyalty who seek practicality in everyday life.

The current model, which represents the sixth generation of the minivan, continues to stand out for its rectilinear appearance and utilitarian proposal, avoiding aggressive lines to favor the glass area and habitability. The new Air EX configuration was developed to offer a more refined finish within the Air line, incorporating comfort and technology items that were previously restricted or optional, without losing the essence of simplicity that defines this variant.

Nostalgic design and internal functionality

Aesthetically, the Step WGN follows a philosophy that harks back to the first generations of the vehicle, adopting a square silhouette that maximizes internal volume. Essa design choice is not just stylistic but functional, allowing the cabin to offer generous space for all occupants. Visibility is one of its strong points, with thin columns and large windows that make driving easier and reduce the feeling of claustrophobia for passengers, making long journeys more pleasant.

Inside, versatility continues to be the main attraction, with emphasis on the third-row seating system that can be folded into the floor, creating a flat floor for cargo. Honda used easy-to-clean and highly durable materials, designed for intense use by families, including liquid-repellent fabrics and soft-touch surfaces. The ergonomics were designed to facilitate access for children and the elderly, with electric sliding doors and an optimized ground height.

Hybrid powertrain and safety

Under the hood, the 2025 Step WGN line maintains engine options that balance performance and energy efficiency. Consumers can opt for the 1.5 turbo gasoline engine, which offers agility for urban traffic, or the advanced e:HEV hybrid system, which combines a 2.0 combustion engine with electric propulsion. The hybrid version is particularly popular for its fuel economy and quiet operation, features valued in the family minivan segment.

Safety has also received attention, with the inclusion of the Honda Sensing package as standard, offering driving assistants, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. With the arrival of the Air EX version, Honda hopes to further consolidate the position of the Step WGN in the competitive Japanese market, offering a product that balances visual nostalgia with modern demands for comfort and technology.
