The national automotive market receives a new important member produced directly within São Paulo. The Sorocaba factory, recognized for operating mostly with renewable energy, is the cradle of the Japanese automaker’s latest investment in the compact utility vehicle segment. With the ambitious goal of selling 30 thousand units in the first year, the vehicle is betting on the combination of sustainability and cost-benefit to attract the Brazilian consumer, starting deliveries in July after the pre-sale period in June.

Versions, engines and energy efficiency

The commercial strategy divides the model into two distinct price ranges to capture different buyer profiles. The entry-level option arrives at dealerships costing R$130,000, delivering an average consumption of close to 12 km/l with gasoline in the urban cycle. Já a versão topo de linha, tabelada em R$ 185 mil, traz o grande diferencial tecnológico do conjunto mecânico.

The flex hybrid system combines a 110 hp 1.5 engine with an electric drive, generating a combined power of 116 hp. The absolute highlight is energy efficiency, reaching an impressive 32 km/l in the city. The Esse number places the model well ahead of direct rivals, such as the Renault Captur E-Tech and the hybrid Honda HR-V, which record lower averages in standardized tests.

The self-recharging technology eliminates the need for external sockets, resolving one of the main complaints about the charging infrastructure in the country. Além of fuel savings, owners in states like São Paulo can benefit from the IPVA exemption, making the financial package even more attractive for app drivers and intense family use.

Proven security and technology package

International safety tests validated the robustness of the vehicle’s structural design. The model achieved the maximum rating of five stars in the ASEAN NCAP, totaling 83 points in impact assessments and demonstrating high efficiency in protecting adult and child occupants. The only caveat highlighted in the technical reports was the absence of a child presence sensor, a detail that did not affect the final classification of excellence.

The driving assistance package, called Toyota Safety Sense, equips the utility vehicle with advanced accident prevention features. The system includes six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assistant and blind spot monitoring. Estatísticas indicate that these devices can reduce collision risks by up to 30%, surpassing competitors such as the Chevrolet Tracker in standard equipment.

In terms of connectivity, the panel features a 10.1-inch floating multimedia center. The system offers wireless integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as supporting remote updates. Câmeras with 360-degree vision helps maneuver in confined spaces, while a dedicated app allows the owner to monitor the maintenance status and location of the car via smartphone.

Functional design and internal space

The dimensions of the utility vehicle were designed for the reality of Brazilian urban roads. Measuring 4.31 meters long and 1.77 meters wide, the car offers agility in traffic without sacrificing passenger comfort. The 2.62 meter wheelbase guarantees good legroom in the rear seat, and the synthetic leather finish on the more expensive versions increases the perception of quality on board.

One of the strengths of the project is the load capacity. The 471-liter trunk surpasses traditional opponents in the segment, such as the Volkswagen T-Cross and the Chevrolet Tracker, making it a viable option for family trips. The exterior design adopts robust lines with an imposing front grille and full-LED headlights, seeking a balance between sporty aesthetics and the brand’s characteristic sobriety.

Competitive landscape and sustainability

Competing for leadership in the compact SUV segment requires clear differences in a market that represents 30% of new vehicle sales. The price positioning places the launch as a more affordable alternative to the Corolla Cross and extremely competitive compared to the competition’s combustion and hybrid options. Local production also results in reduced maintenance costs, with overhauls up to 20% cheaper than those offered by rival brands such as Hyundai.

Sustainability goes beyond fuel consumption and encompasses the entire product life cycle:

– The factory responsible for assembly uses 80% clean energy in its processes.

– Existe a structured program for the safe recycling of batteries at the end of their useful life.

– Future Tecnologias, such as the Bio-Hybrid, are already in the testing phase to expand the use of renewable fuels.

– Condições special financing options are offered to the PCD public, increasing accessibility.
