The European automotive industry has officially welcomed a new configuration of the popular Dacia SUV, designed to redefine standards for long-distance efficiency and range. The model, called Hybrid-G 150, introduces a complex mechanical architecture that harmonizes an internal combustion engine, a 48-volt electrical system and the ability to operate with Gás Liquefeito or Petróleo (LPG). Essa technical combination results in a vehicle capable of traveling significant distances without the need for frequent stops for refueling.
The heart of this launch is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine, which works in conjunction with an electric motor positioned on the rear axle. The set delivers a total power of 140 horsepower, offering consistent performance both on highways and rough terrain. The manufacturer’s strategy aims to serve consumers who seek the versatility of a 4×4 without compromising fuel economy and pollutant reduction, maintaining the brand’s affordable value proposition.
Intelligent propulsion and traction engineering
The technical difference of the new Duster lies in the elimination of the traditional mechanical connection between the axles for all-wheel drive. In its place, a 31 horsepower electric motor was installed on the rear axle, responsible for providing instant torque to the rear wheels when necessary. Esse system guarantees grip on slippery surfaces and acts decisively when starting off, in addition to contributing to energy regeneration during braking.
The transmission is managed by a six-speed manual gearbox, calibrated to optimize consumption and guarantee smooth shifts. The 48V mild hybrid system assists the combustion engine in phases of greater effort, such as acceleration and restart, relieving the load on the thermal propellant. Essa electrical assistance is essential to maintain energy efficiency, especially in urban traffic situations or off-road driving.
Record autonomy and consumption efficiency
One of the vehicle’s greatest highlights is its energy storage capacity. The SUV has two different fuel tanks, a 50-liter tank for gasoline and another with the same capacity for LPG. Quando both are fully fueled, the car can achieve a total range of up to 1,500 kilometers in the WLTP cycle, a number that surpasses the vast majority of direct competitors and even vehicles in higher categories.
In terms of consumption, technical data points to an average of between 5.5 and 5.6 liters per 100 km when operated with gasoline. When using LPG mode, consumption increases slightly to around 7.1 to 7.2 liters per 100 km, due to the lower energy density of the gas, but offset by the lower cost of fuel in many regions. CO2 emissions are contained between 116 and 126 g/km, respecting the strict environmental standards in force on the European continent.
Embedded technology and driving modes
To handle different driving scenarios, the vehicle offers a Terrain Mode Selector that automatically adjusts throttle response and traction distribution. Options include specific settings for snow, mud and sand, as well as an Eco mode focused on maximum efficiency and an Auto mode that manages the system according to momentary demand. The interface with the driver is done through digital screens that display energy flow and battery status in real time.
The model’s interior maintains the focus on functionality, with durable materials and an infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety and comfort on long journeys are reinforced by driving assistants and the stability provided by the rear electric traction system, which acts independently to correct the trajectory and maintain control of the vehicle in curves or on low-grip surfaces.
Commercial positioning and values
Dacia has positioned the new Duster Hybrid-G 150 in a competitive price range for the European market, starting sales at values close to 28,000 euros for the intermediate version. The most complete configurations, which include 360-degree cameras and exclusive finishes, can cost around 30,000 euros.
With this strategy, the brand consolidates its presence in the compact SUV segment, offering a technical solution that no other manufacturer currently offers in this price range: the combination of 4×4 traction, hybridization and dual fuel. The model presents itself as a robust tool for those who need extended autonomy and off-road capability, without the high costs associated with larger or fully electric vehicles.
