The Brazilian automotive market receives a significant offensive in the electrified vehicle segment at the beginning of March with the official presentation of two new products from Chinese automaker BYD. The company confirmed the arrival of the unprecedented Atto 8, a seven-seater sports utility vehicle that takes over the top of the range, and the update of the 2027 Song Plus line, which leads the brand’s sales in the country. Ambos the models rely on plug-in hybrid technology to attract consumers who seek energy efficiency without giving up autonomy for long journeys, consolidating the manufacturer’s strategy of expanding its presence in different price ranges and categories. The move occurs at a time of high competitiveness, where the demand for sustainable technologies and advanced connectivity dictates the rules of the national industry.
The launches arrive at dealerships with different positions, aiming to serve everything from large families who need extra space to users who prioritize fuel economy in daily urban use.
Among the main highlights revealed by the automaker for the national market are:
– The debut of the Atto 8 with a suggested price of R$399,990;
– The Song Plus 2027 update costing R$ 249,990;
– The introduction of battery systems with greater charging capacity.
Dimensions and positioning of the new Atto 8
The BYD Atto 8 arrives in the country in a unique version, called DM-P, with the mission of establishing new standards of luxury and space within the brand’s portfolio. With generous dimensions, the SUV measures 5.04 meters long, 2 meters wide and 1.76 meters high, ensuring a robust presence on the streets. The 2.95 meter wheelbase is essential to comfortably accommodate seven occupants, a feature that differentiates the model from its direct competitors and expands the options for executive family transport.
The versatility of the interior space is complemented by a trunk adaptable to the driver’s needs. With the seven seats in use, the cargo compartment offers 270 liters, enough volume for carry-on luggage and everyday items. When folding down the third row and configuring the vehicle for five passengers, the capacity jumps to an impressive 960 liters, ideal for long trips. The external look is finished off by 21-inch wheels and an LED light signature at the rear, which reinforces the vehicle’s modern identity.
Combined performance and electric range
The mechanical engineering of the Atto 8 combines a 1.5 turbo combustion engine, which delivers 165 horsepower and 22.7 kgfm of torque, with two strategically positioned electric thrusters. The front electric motor generates 273 horsepower, while the rear one contributes 216 horsepower, resulting in an intelligent all-wheel drive system. Essa configuration delivers a combined power of 488 horsepower and a total torque of 68.8 kgfm, numbers that allow the large utility vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
Energy efficiency is guaranteed by a 35.6 kWh battery, which provides an electric range of 111 km, according to Inmetro measurements. Para recharges, the system supports up to 72 kW in direct current, allowing the battery to go from 30% to 80% in around 20 minutes, speeding up the owners’ routine.
Embedded technology and interior comfort
The cabin of the Atto 8 was designed to offer an immersive digital experience and a high level of comfort. The dashboard is dominated by a 15.6-inch rotating multimedia center, which concentrates the vehicle’s entertainment functions and settings, working together with a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. Para Keep the driver’s attention on the road, the model has a head-up display that projects essential information directly onto the windshield.
The standard equipment package reinforces the premium character of the launch:
– Suspensão semi-active DiSus-C with shock absorber adjustment;
– Sistema sound with 21 high fidelity speakers;
– Bancos with massage, ventilation and electrical adjustments;
– Integrated Geladeira and panoramic sunroof.
Driving assistance and safety
Active and passive safety receives priority attention in the new seven-seater SUV. The model is equipped with a comprehensive suite of driving assistance systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. Sensores monitor the vehicle’s surroundings to provide frontal and rear collision alerts, as well as lane change warning, mitigating risks on highways and heavy urban traffic.
When maneuvering in confined spaces, the driver has the help of cameras with 360º vision and cross-traffic alert. The lane keeping assistant works to correct the vehicle’s trajectory if there are unintentional deviations, completing the technological package aimed at protecting the occupants.
Technical updates in Song Plus 2027
The BYD Song Plus, one of the brand’s most popular vehicles, arrives in the 2027 line with modifications focused on operational efficiency. Mantendo the competitive price of R$249,990, the hybrid SUV received a new 26.3 kWh battery. Essa technical change allowed a considerable increase in autonomy in pure electric mode, which went from 68 km to 99 km in the PBEV cycle of the Inmetro, expanding the emission-free driving capacity.
Although combined power has discreetly increased to 239 horsepower — a gain of 4 horsepower over the previous version — the focus of the update was not raw performance, but rather energy balance. The mechanical set maintains the 129 horsepower 1.5 aspirated engine combined with the 194 horsepower electric motor. The total combined range (NEDC cycle) has been slightly adjusted to 1,150 km due to the extra weight of the new battery, but remains a reference in the segment.
Improved connectivity and fast recharge
One of the main innovations of the 2027 Song Plus line is in the technology and charging infrastructure. The electrical system has been updated to accept rapid direct current (DC) recharges, reducing waiting time from three hours to approximately 55 minutes. Essa change addresses one of the main demands of owners, facilitating the use of electric mode on frequent urban journeys.
Inside, the user experience was transformed with the native integration of the Google system into the 15.3-inch multimedia center. The new feature allows the use of navigation and map applications directly on the vehicle’s screen and on the 12.3-inch instrument panel, eliminating the need to mirror cell phones via cables or wirelessly. The model continues to offer comfort items such as ventilated seats with electrical adjustment, dual-zone air conditioning, induction chargers and adaptive full LED headlights.
