The European automotive industry is preparing to welcome a new member to the family vehicle segment that promises to redefine the relationship between space and price. Dacia has officially developed its new station wagon, called Striker, with a global presentation scheduled for March 10, 2026. The model arrives with the strategic mission of expanding the brand’s presence in the C segment, offering a robust and economical alternative to traditional competitors that have become significantly more expensive in recent years.

The project was designed on the CMF-B modular platform, the same one used in the manufacturer’s recent successes such as the Sandero and the Jogger, but with specific adjustments to maximize the wheelbase and rear overhang. With an estimated length of between 4.5 and 4.6 meters, the vehicle is positioned as a large option within its category, aiming to serve families who need ample load capacity without the costs associated with medium SUVs or station wagons from premium brands.

The choice of name follows the company’s naming strategy, aligning with other products in the portfolio ending in “er”, such as Duster and Bigster. Esta consistency reinforces the brand’s identity, which seeks to convey an image of robustness and adventure, even in vehicles aimed at urban and road use. The model is expected to reach European dealerships in the second half of the year, shortly after its official debut.

Functional design and generous dimensions

Visually, the new venture from the Grupo Renault subsidiary adopts a design language that prioritizes functionality. Esboços and preliminary information indicate an elongated silhouette, characterized by straight lines that optimize the use of internal space. The front end must follow the brand’s updated visual identity, with the new “Dacia Link” logo integrated into an assertive front grille and LED optical clusters with a Y signature.

At the rear, the focus is on practical access to the trunk. The vertical rear lid allows the accommodation of bulky objects, surpassing the load capacity of many equivalent SUVs. Estima The luggage compartment volume exceeds 500 liters with the seats in the normal position, and can reach more than 1,500 liters with the second row folded down, figures that place the model in direct competition with sector references, such as the Skoda Octavia Combi.

The height in relation to the ground will be slightly raised compared to traditional station wagons, a typical feature of the brand’s engineering to guarantee trafficability on poorly paved roads or light rural roads. Molduras plastics on the wheel arches and unpainted bumpers on the base reinforce the utilitarian appeal and reduce repair costs in the event of minor urban incidents.

Hybrid powertrain and energy efficiency

Under the hood, the Striker station wagon will dispense with diesel engines, focusing on affordable electrification solutions and alternative fuels. The range of engines should be inaugurated by the 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline turbo block, equipped with a 48V mild-hybrid system, capable of delivering around 130 horsepower. Esta configuration aims to balance road performance with low emissions, meeting strict environmental standards Euro 7.

For consumers looking for greater efficiency in the urban cycle, the brand will offer a full hybrid version (HEV). Este system will combine a 1.8 naturally aspirated gasoline engine with electric units, offering a smooth ride and the ability to operate in 100% electric mode over short distances or maneuvers. A clutchless, multi-mode automatic transmission will be standard on this variant, simplifying driving in heavy traffic.

Complementing the options, there will be the traditional ECO-G version, factory prepared to run on LPG (Gas Liquefeito of Petróleo). Esta alternative continues to be an important differentiator in several European markets, providing a significantly lower cost per kilometer driven than gasoline, in addition to guaranteeing extended autonomy thanks to the presence of two fuel tanks.

Interior focused on the essentials

The new model’s cabin will reflect the manufacturer’s “design to cost” philosophy, prioritizing durable and easy-to-clean materials over luxurious finishes. The panel must adopt a horizontal layout, integrating a dedicated support for smartphones in entry-level versions, allowing the driver’s device to act as a multimedia center through a dedicated application.

In the most equipped configurations, the vehicle will feature a 10-inch touchscreen, compatible with wireless mirroring for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The digital, configurable instrument panel will provide essential driving information, while physical controls for the climate control system will be maintained, ensuring ergonomics and ease of use while driving.

  • Modular “YouClip” accessory attachment system at strategic points in the cabin.
  • Seat coverings in resistant, washable fabric.
  • Intelligent storage spaces distributed throughout the cabin.
  • Automatic air conditioning and electronic parking brake in top versions.

Market positioning and competition

The launch of the Striker comes at a time when the mid-size station wagon segment has suffered a retraction in favor of sports utility vehicles, leaving a gap for rational and affordable options. The model is not intended to compete in refinement with the Volkswagen Golf Variant or the Peugeot 308 SW, but rather to offer an unbeatable cost-benefit ratio, with prices estimated to be up to 20% below direct competition.

The strategy aims to capture rational customers, fleet owners and families who prioritize internal space and fuel economy. By avoiding excessive technological complexity and focusing on the safety and comfort items actually demanded by the public, the manufacturer is able to maintain healthy profit margins while delivering a competitive final product.

Production will be concentrated at the Mioveni factory, at Romênia, taking advantage of the local supply chain and the plant’s expertise in assembling vehicles on the CMF-B platform. A expectativa é que o modelo contribua significativamente para o volume de vendas anual da marca, consolidando sua posição entre as montadoras mais vendidas do continente europeu no varejo.

Security and embedded technology

Despite the focus on low cost, the vehicle will not neglect modern safety requirements. The reinforced structure of the CMF-B platform offers good impact protection, and the driver assistance package (ADAS) will be comprehensive to comply with the new general safety regulations of the União Europeia.

The model will come equipped as standard with autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assistant, traffic sign recognition and driver fatigue detector. Sensores rear parking and reversing camera will be available in most versions, making maneuvering a vehicle of these dimensions easier.

With the presentation scheduled for the beginning of March 2026, the industry is waiting to see if the new station wagon will be able to replicate the sales phenomenon of the Sandero, proving that there is still a robust demand for traditional family vehicles, as long as the price is fair and the proposal is honest.
