The Jaecoo 8 SHS-P, a plug-in hybrid SUV from the Chinese brand Jaecoo, arrives on the British market as an option for families looking for seven seats and high electric autonomy. The model offers up to 83 miles of range in pure electric mode, combined with all-wheel drive and 422 hp. Deliveries begin in May 2026, with orders now open.

The vehicle positions itself directly against the Hyundai Santa Fe plug-in hybrid and the Skoda Kodiaq iV. Seu starting price of £45,500 for the seven-seat Luxury version represents a competitive advantage, as the Santa Fe PHEV starts at prices above £53,000. The Kodiaq iV starts at around £42,000 but is limited to five seats in the equivalent configuration.

The Jaecoo adopts a more fluid and modern design for the 8, different from the more square style of the Jaecoo 7. Elementos like the cascading front grille and full-width rear light bar maintain the brand’s identity. The SUV measures around 4.8 meters in length and prioritizes versatility for urban and light off-road use.

Hybrid powertrain and performance

The Jaecoo 8 uses the Super Hybrid System (SHS-P) system, shared with models such as the Chery Tiggo 9 and Omoda 9. The set combines a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine with two electric motors and a three-speed transmission dedicated to hybrids. Total power reaches 422 hp and torque of 580 Nm, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than six seconds.

The 34.5 kWh battery guarantees electric range of up to 83 miles in the WLTP cycle. Isso outperforms most PHEV competitors in the seven-seat segment. The vehicle allows quick recharging with direct current of up to 40 kW, with a time of 20 minutes to go from 30% to 80% of capacity.

Combined range and off-road capabilities

With a full tank and charged battery, the SUV achieves more than 700 miles of total range. Essa distance allows long trips without frequent stops for refueling or recharging. The hybrid system optimizes the use of the electric motor on daily journeys and the gasoline on highways.

The Jaecoo highlights the model’s off-road capabilities. Lockable Diferenciais, terrain adaptive response system and fording depth of up to 600 mm bring the vehicle up to SUV standards such as the Land Rover Discovery Sport. All-wheel drive reinforces versatility in varied conditions.

Seating configurations and interior comfort

The Luxury version has seven seats as standard, ideal for large families who need flexibility. Luggage space reaches up to 2,021 liters with the rear rows folded down. The configuration prioritizes practicality in everyday life.

The Executive version, priced at £47,500, offers six seats with captain’s chairs in the second row. Esses seats have heating, ventilation and massage. A “Boss” button allows you to adjust the front passenger seat to increase legroom for those traveling in the back.

Standard equipment and technology

The Luxury model includes dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof and Sony sound system with 14 speakers. The front seats offer heating, ventilation and massage. Adaptive Suspensão and adaptive cruise assist are part of the package.

Driver assistance systems encompass adaptive cruise control and other active safety features. The Jaecoo emphasizes the focus on comfort and technology to compete in the affordable premium segment.

Market positioning and availability

The Jaecoo 8 enters the large SUV segment with seven seats and plug-in hybrid. Seu price and specifications make it an attractive alternative for those looking for more electric autonomy without paying the prices of traditional premium brands. The first units will reach customers in May 2026.

Superior electric range in the segment

The larger battery than the original Nissan Leaf highlights the focus on electrification. The 83-mile range allows you to cover most urban trips without using fuel. Isso reduces operating costs for owners with access to charging points.

Exterior design and brand identity

The Jaecoo 8 adopts more aerodynamic lines compared to its smaller brother. The imposing grille and chrome details reinforce the visual presence. 20-inch Rodas and recessed door handles add to the modern look.
