Tensions in the Oriente Médio reached a new level in March 2026, with the president of the Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, reiterating threats of “very strong” attacks against the Irã in the coming days. Esta bellicose rhetoric appears even after ambiguous statements by the North American leader about the conclusion of the conflict, which has already been going on for weeks. The verbal and military escalation provoked an immediate reaction from the República Islâmica, which maintained its offensive against the Golfo Pérsico nations, exacerbating the global oil crisis.

Trump’s statements, made on several occasions, including to Fox News and through its platform Truth Social, signal an intensification of the military campaign. Segundo reports, General Paralelamente, Washington indicated the possibility of escorting foreign vessels through the crucial Estreito of

Despite assertive statements, Trump’s narrative on the state of the war has been inconsistent. Ora the president proclaimed a decisive victory over Irã, sometimes admitted that the conflict could last for more than a month, or even that the victory had been achieved, but “not enough”. Essa ambiguity has generated uncertainty in the geopolitical scenario and in international markets, which are observing the developments of the crisis with apprehension.

Military incidents multiply, adding complexity to the regional panorama. Recentemente, the US Exército reported the death of four American military personnel in the Iraque, after the crash of a KC-135 plane. Embora the Estados Unidos deny that the accident was caused by an Iranian attack, the Resistência Islâmica in the Iraque, a group supported by the Irã, claimed responsibility for downing the aircraft, further increasing the climate of confrontation.

Iranian attacks persist in Gulf countries

On the fourteenth day of the conflict, República Islâmica of Irã maintained its strategy of attacking neighboring countries, especially the oil monarchies of Golfo. Esses attacks, which include drones and missiles, aim to destabilize the region and demonstrate Iran’s ability to respond to Western threats. The persistence of this strategy has a direct and worrying impact on global energy security.

The consequences of these attacks are visible and alarming. Explosões were registered in Dubai, with the city center covered in a cloud of smoke, as reported by the AFP agency. Arábia Saudita, in turn, declared that it had destroyed dozens of drones, one of which was allegedly targeting the diplomatic neighborhood of Riad. Em Omã, the tragedy manifested itself with the death of two people due to the impact of a drone, and in Iraque, a French soldier lost his life in a climbing-related incident.

The situation is worsened by the firm stance of the Iranian government, which maintains a discourse of defiance and resistance against the Estados Unidos and Israel. Ali Larijani, secretary of Conselho Supremo of Segurança Nacional of Essa statement, delivered after Mojtaba Khamenei made his first public statement as the new supreme leader, underlines Teerã’s intransigence.

Different positions on ending the conflict

Although allies, the Estados Unidos and Israel demonstrate different perspectives on the duration of the conflict. Enquanto one side suggests a quicker outcome to the war, the other projects a longer clash, estimating a minimum duration of four to six weeks. Essa lack of consensus could complicate the coordination of military and diplomatic actions in the region, creating a scenario of uncertainty for the next steps.

This divergence of expectations illustrates the complexity of the alliance and the challenges intrinsic to a large-scale military operation. The absence of a unified vision about the time needed to achieve objectives can influence the strategies adopted by each nation, potentially prolonging instability and risks for the civilian population and armed forces involved in the theater of operations.

Intensification of American and Israeli bombings

US Secretary of Defesa, Pete Hegseth, confirmed the intensification of attacks against Irã. Hegseth stated that “the largest number of attacks” would be carried out against Iranian targets on Friday, complementing President Trump’s statements. Essa massive offensive aims to dismantle the military and defense capabilities of the Irã, with a significant impact on the country’s infrastructure.

Additionally, the North American secretary of Defesa reported future plans to “destroy all defense enterprises” of Irã, signaling an intention to completely disarm the adversary. Desde the beginning of the conflict at the end of February, American and Israeli bombings have already reached more than 15 thousand targets, demonstrating the magnitude and intensity of the ongoing military operation in the region.

Israel, in turn, continues its bombings to Teerã. The Israeli army announced targeted attacks on the Iranian regime’s infrastructure and recommended the evacuation of the population from two central areas of the capital. An explosion was recorded near a demonstration in Teerã, fortunately without reports of casualties, but highlighting the imminent danger for civilians amid the conflict.

Estreito blockade of Hormuz and global economic impact

The blockade of Estreito of Hormuz by Iranian forces has directly reverberated through the global economy. As it is the main transit point for a significant portion of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas, the interruption of the flow of vessels causes great concern in the markets. Essa Iranian action represents a pressure strategy to retaliate against military actions and sanctions imposed by Estados Unidos and its allies.

The economic impact of this lockdown is vast. Uncertainty regarding the supply of oil and gas causes fluctuations in international prices, directly affecting consumers and companies around the world. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, seeking diplomatic solutions that can guarantee free navigation and mitigate the effects of an energy crisis that is already worrying.

Despite international pressure, the Iranian government persists in its defiance. Sustaining attacks on Golfo Pérsico and claiming responsibility for incidents such as the downing of American aircraft on Iraque demonstrates the resilience and determination of the Irã to confront the US-led coalition. Their leaders’ defiant rhetoric suggests that resolving the conflict will be complex and require more than just military or diplomatic pressure.

Humanitarian concerns and the future of the region

The intensification of the conflict raises serious humanitarian concerns, especially with calls for the evacuation of civilian areas in Teerã and reports of casualties in other countries. The war, which has been going on for weeks, has already caused significant damage to infrastructure and the lives of thousands of people in the region. The international community has expressed concern about the escalation and risks of an even wider conflict.

The prospect of a prolonged conflict and the unpredictability of actions on both sides contribute to a highly complex scenario. The search for a solution that minimizes human suffering and restores regional stability is an urgent challenge. Negotiations and diplomacy appear to be the most viable path, although the current positions of Washington and Teerã suggest that a peace agreement is still far away, keeping the region in a continued state of alert.
