Sony has started rolling out the system update that implements the enhanced version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR 2.0) on PS5 Pro. The update began in phases from March 16, 2026, with a local time of 10pm on Pacífico (PT), equivalent to a gradual rollout in global regions. AI-based upscaling technology now processes more complex details and textures with greater precision, while maintaining high frame rates and consistent image quality. Resident Evil Requiem, released on the same day, was the first title to fully utilize the new version of PSSR.

PS5 Pro users can activate the enhancement option in the system configuration, in “Screen and Video” > “Video Output”, where there is a specific toggle for “Enhance PSSR Essa functionality allows you to apply improvements to games that already support the original PSSR. The firmware update, identified as 26.02-13.00.00, brought refinements developed over an additional six months by the Sony technical team.

Technical improvement in upscaling

PSSR 2.0 takes a refined approach compared to the previous version. The technology analyzes images pixel by pixel to upscale, reducing artifacts such as shimmering and flickering seen in previous scenarios. Desenvolvedores reported gains in visual fidelity, especially in intricate elements like fine textures and graphic expressiveness.

Studios highlighted that the upgrade allows performance stability to be maintained without compromising quality. Jogos with detailed environments benefit more, as advanced processing better handles hard-to-scale visual particulars. Sony confirmed that PSSR 2.0 elevates the experience in titles across different genres.

Games receiving immediate support

Several titles already support PSSR 2.0 through system updates or specific patches. Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill f, from Konami, feature clearer rendering of fine details, which adds to the horror atmosphere. Dragon Age: The Veilguard, from Electronic Arts, wins in large RPG settings with improved textures and visual consistency.

Control and Alan Wake 2, from Remedy Entertainment, exhibit notable improvements in lighting and particle effects. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II also integrates the upgrade for greater clarity in intense narrative sequences. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, from Square Enix, benefits from rich environments with high fidelity.

Expansion for more productions

Other confirmed games include Nioh 3 and Rise of the Ronin, from Koei Tecmo, with gains in dynamic combat and historical settings. Monster Hunter Wilds and Dragon’s Dogma 2 receive improvements to open worlds and detailed creatures. The recently released Crimson Desert supports PSSR 2.0 from day one for optimized performance.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Cyberpunk 2077 will receive compatibility updates in the coming weeks. Essas expansions allow more players to access improvements without the need for additional hardware. The list reflects partnerships with multiple publishers to maximize the potential of the PS5 Pro.

How to activate and what to expect

The activation process is simple and accessible directly from the console settings. Após the update is downloaded, the toggle appears for immediate application in compatible games. Independent Testes showed reductions in visual artifacts and more consistent images in motion.

Sony planned the rollout in phases to ensure overall stability. PS5 Proprietários Pro should check system updates regularly. The upgrade reinforces the platform’s focus on advanced graphics quality through AI.

Developer statements

Development teams have commented on the practical benefits. Konami highlighted that Silent Hill f takes advantage of PSSR 2.0 to render “beauty in horror” with greater clarity. Capcom, in Resident Evil Requiem, emphasized the processing of intricate details that elevate the visual horror.

Other studios have reported smoother experiences and unprecedented fidelity. Essas contributions show close collaboration between Sony and publishers to refine the technology.
