Jetour, the SUV division under the Chery Group, officially commenced its operations in Brazil recently with a high-profile event held in São Paulo. This move marks a significant step in the brand’s global expansion, aiming to solidify its presence in one of Latin America’s largest automotive markets.

The company had already initiated pre-sales across the country, featuring three core models: the S06, T1, and T2. Deliveries for these eagerly anticipated vehicles are slated to begin this month, setting the stage for Jetour’s full market entry.

A cornerstone of Jetour’s long-term vision for Brazil is a commitment to introducing a new vehicle annually. This ambitious plan underscores the brand’s intent to rapidly diversify its portfolio and cater to evolving consumer demands, ranging from urban SUVs to robust off-road vehicles.

High-performance G700 set to redefine off-road luxury

Among the most anticipated additions to Jetour’s lineup for 2025 is the G700, a large-format hybrid plug-in SUV designed to lead the brand’s premium segment. This “root SUV” promises a blend of imposing dimensions and rugged capabilities, positioning it as a serious contender in the high-end utility vehicle market.

While official specifications are yet to be fully released for the Brazilian market, global configurations suggest the G700 will stretch approximately 5.20 meters in length. Its architecture is explicitly engineered for off-road prowess, featuring a robust structure and advanced technologies specifically tailored to enhance performance on challenging and uneven terrains.

The G700’s powertrain is a sophisticated hybrid system, coupling a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with two electric motors, all working in concert to deliver all-wheel drive. This formidable combination is projected to generate a total output nearing an impressive 904 horsepower, complemented by an estimated torque of 115.7 kgfm.

Such a potent setup translates into exhilarating performance, with the SUV capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 4.6 seconds. Furthermore, its off-road credentials are highlighted by an ability to traverse water crossings up to 97 cm deep, ensuring remarkable versatility across diverse landscapes.

Strategic expansion and local innovation drives Jetour’s Brazil plans

Established in 2018, Jetour has demonstrated consistent year-on-year sales growth, extending its footprint to 91 countries worldwide. The brand currently operates three manufacturing facilities in China, with ambitious plans to expand to 19 production bases globally by 2030, and Brazil is being considered a potential strategic location for one of these future sites.

The company’s commitment to the Brazilian market extends beyond product launches; it includes the establishment of a local Research and Development center. This facility will primarily focus on developing flex-fuel technology, a critical innovation for the Brazilian automotive landscape, while also exploring the integration of diesel engines into future offerings.

Advanced technology and extended range for the G700

Powering the G700’s electric drive is a 34.1 kWh battery, providing an estimated electric-only range of approximately 100 km under the WLTC cycle. When combined with its gasoline engine, the hybrid system extends the total cruising range to an impressive 1,400 km, mitigating range anxiety for long journeys.

A notable technological highlight of the G700 is its 800-volt electrical architecture, a feature typically found in premium electric vehicles. This advanced system facilitates ultra-fast battery recharging, enabling the charge level to climb from 30% to 80% in roughly 10 minutes under optimal conditions, significantly reducing downtime.

Inside the cabin, the G700 boasts a sophisticated digital environment, featuring an integrated dual-screen setup with a vast 35.4-inch panoramic display and a 15.6-inch multimedia system. A comprehensive suite of semi-autonomous driving assistance features will also be part of the package, enhancing both safety and convenience for occupants.

Market entry pricing and ambitious sales network goals

For its initial models, Jetour has opted to maintain launch prices until the end of April 2025, offering an attractive proposition for early adopters. Following this period, adjustments to pricing will be implemented, with increases varying across different trims.

The Jetour S06 Advance, initially priced at R$ 199,900, will see a R$ 5,000 increase to R$ 204,900 from May 2025, while the S06 Premium retains its R$ 229,900 price. Similarly, the Jetour T1 Advance will rise by R$ 5,000 to R$ 254,900, and the T1 Premium will increase by R$ 10,000 to R$ 274,900.

The Jetour T2 Advance, currently R$ 289,900, will also experience a R$ 5,000 increase to R$ 294,900, and its Premium variant, at R$ 299,900, will adjust to R$ 309,900. Alongside these pricing strategies, Jetour has set an ambitious target of establishing 100 sales points across Brazil by the close of 2025, signaling a robust expansion of its dealership network.
