Apple sent a group of less than 200 engineers who work at Siri to a multi-week bootcamp. The objective is to improve programming skills with artificial intelligence tools. The initiative takes place less than two months before the WWDC conference, scheduled to start on June 8th.
The company maintains around 60 members of the Siri core development team on a day-to-day basis. Outros 60 professionals will evaluate the assistant’s performance, including user commands and security standards. The measure reflects efforts to accelerate the development of a more advanced version of the tool.

Bootcamp focuses on AI-powered coding tools
The intensive training seeks to upgrade engineers on wizards like Claude Code, from Anthropic, and Codex, from OpenAI. Essas tools have gained space in several Apple departments, which allocate a significant part of their budgets to them.
Siri has already been a pioneer among voice assistants. Nos in recent years, however, has lost ground to more agile competitors in resources based on generative artificial intelligence. The initiative is part of internal adjustments to regain momentum.
- Menos of 200 engineers from Siri participate in bootcamp
- 60 professionals remain in the development core
- 60 work in performance and safety assessment
- Treinamento lasts for several weeks
- Foco in AI-Assisted Coding
Nova Siri’s experience should be presented at WWDC
Apple plans to reveal a new version of the assistant during the developer conference in June. The expectation is that it will work more like an independent chatbot, similar to ChatGPT or Claude.
The full release is scheduled for 2026, integrated into iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. The initial version, announced as part of Apple Intelligence, did not meet reliability standards and was delayed until spring 2026.
Equipes test features that allow greater customization and more autonomous actions. The redesign includes integration with partner AI models.
Saída from John Giannandrea marks a transition in the AI area
John Giannandrea leaves Apple this week. Ele held the role of head of machine learning and AI strategy and had been serving as an advisor since the end of 2025. Sua’s exit coincides with the final equity vesting period.
The company announced the transition in December 2025. Amar Subramanya, who came from Microsoft, took over as vice president of AI and reports to Craig Federighi.
Ajustes internals seek to accelerate development
Diversas Apple teams have increased their use of generative AI tools in their daily lives. The Siri bootcamp represents a concentrated effort to align the core team with practices already adopted in other groups.
The virtual assistant faces pressure to deliver more natural and useful interactions. Usuários expect commands that understand personal context and perform complex tasks with less intervention.
The current focus involves improving accuracy and safety before broad launch. Apple did not immediately comment on the matter when contacted.
Detalhes from team reorganization
The change does not affect the entire Siri team, which has hundreds of professionals. Apenas a portion participates in training external to the normal flow.
Engineers’ Parte remains dedicated to continuous maintenance and improvements. The assessment group monitors actual interactions and potential risks.
Esses adjustments come as the company sets the stage for significant updates to the software ecosystem next year.
