Chevrolet Onix loses LTZ version in the 2027 line to make room for the Activ

Chevrolet prepares changes to the compact line in Brasil. The brand will launch the Onix Activ at the end of April and the Sonic SUV in the second half of May. The most discreet new feature is the departure of the LTZ configuration from the conventional Onix in the 2027 line.

The adjustment repositions the models to avoid overlapping prices. The LTZ currently costs R$126,190. Onix Activ should be in the range of R$125 thousand to R$130 thousand. Sonic, in turn, will be positioned between R$145 thousand and R$150 thousand.

Mudança makes room for an adventurous version

Chevrolet’s decision aims to balance supply within the Onix family. Activ returns after seven years out of print. Ele uses the same hatch as a base, but gains elevated suspension, roof racks and robust visual elements. The objective is to attract those looking for a car with a more off-road look without switching to an SUV.

The Onix Activ will have an equipment package close to that of the discontinued LTZ. Faróis full-LED, alloy wheels with darkened finish, keyless access and push-button start are part of the list. The instrument panel is partially digital. The multimedia center is 11 inches. The car offers six airbags as standard.

Portfolio Estratégia against rivals

The Activ competes with mid-range options Fiat Pulse, Renault Kardian, and Volkswagen Tera. Ele uses the 1.0 turbo engine without direct injection. A six-speed automatic transmission is the only confirmed option. Para front and rear shocks have been adjusted to widen entry and exit angles.

Sonic arrives soon after. Ele acts as the entry SUV and fills the gap between Onix Activ and Tracker. The strategy is reminiscent of Volkswagen with Nivus and T-Cross. The customer chooses between a more affordable elevated hatchback or a less equipped compact SUV.
