Albino python snake seized in Anápolis will be sent to the zoo
A nearly 4 meter albino python snake was seized by Delegacia Estadual from Repressão to Crimes Contra o Meio Ambiente (Dema), from Polícia Civil from Goiás, on Monday (April 27) in Anápolis. The animal had escaped from a residence in Aruanã a week earlier and was located after causing panic in the region. According to investigations, the owner did not have valid documentation to breed the exotic species. The reptile will be sent to the Goiânia zoo after undergoing health checks and sexing at Secretaria of Meio Ambiente and Desenvolvimento Sustentável of Goiás (Semad).
Luziano Carvalho, owner of Dema, explained that the owner only presented municipal documentation to keep the animal, but the breeding of exotic species such as pythons requires state or federal authorization. The guardian will be charged with introducing a foreign animal specimen into the country without an official technical opinion and a license issued by the competent authority.
Resgate and Snake Capture
On April 21, people found the python on the sidewalk of a street in Aruanã, next to a thicket. Acionado by frightened passersby, Corpo of Bombeiros carried out the rescue of the reptile. The python had escaped from the owner’s friend’s residence in the city. The animal was raised in Anápolis and left there heading to Aruanã to be presented in a lecture, when it disappeared.

The albino python is approximately seven years old. Segundo the owner, he received the animal from a third party and is unaware of its origin. The species is not common in Brasil and is of Asian origin.
Investigators are working to discover the origin of the reptile and identify who authorized its creation in Brasil. Polícia Civil also seeks to track the circumstances that led to the animal being illegally introduced into the country.

Qualquer person who holds endangered or not adequately cataloged species is subject to criminal penalties. State and federal authorities work together to curb wildlife trafficking.
