Capcom announced that the new mode coming to Resident Evil Requiem next month will only be accessible to players who have finished the main story. The resource works like a minigame based on the battles from the original game, as revealed by director Koshi Nakanishi in an interview with the Japanese website Denfaminicogamer.

“For those of you who have already completed the main story and are thinking ‘I haven’t had enough fun yet!’, I think you can enjoy this and say ‘Wow!!'” commented Nakanishi. Producer Masato Kumazawa reinforced the importance of finishing the campaign before the launch of the new product. Ele suggested that players complete the game during Golden Week, the traditional Japanese holiday next week.

Combat-based Minigame

The new mode works exclusively as content unlocked after completing the main story of Leon S. Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft in Raccoon City. Fãs speculate that this is an Requiem version of the traditional Mercenários mode, which offers wave combat in familiar areas of the game.

The hypothesis gained strength among series veterans:

  • Ondas continuous enemy attacks in familiar locations
  • Possibilidade from playing with secondary characters as Sherry
  • Chance of controlling villains, possibly the antagonist Zeno
  • Mecânicas focused on pure action, without narrative progression

Sucesso commercial and upcoming expansions

Resident Evil Requiem has reached an important milestone for Capcom. The game sold 7 million copies, a number that raised the company’s profit projection for the fiscal year. The revenue generated by the sale justifies new investments in content.

Além from the minigame, Capcom has confirmed plans for a more robust story DLC at some point in the future. Nakanishi clarified that this narrative expansion is still in a relatively early stage of development and will take time to be released. The company maintains a strategy of gradually spaced releases to maintain player base engagement.

Resident Evil Requiem received an 8/10 rating in specialized analysis, consolidating its positive performance among critics and consumers.
