Audi has initiated a large-scale recall operation involving 96,180 electric vehicles worldwide. The problem is a faulty screw connection in the brake pedal that compromises the braking function. Na Alemanha, 14,061 cars were affected by the fault detected in e-tron quattro and Q8 e-tron models, including Sportback variants.

The deficiency was identified in a connection between the drive rod and the brake pedal. Segundo to Autoridade Federal Alemã of Transporte Motorizado (KBA), in extreme cases, the vehicle would not decelerate as expected when the driver presses the pedal. Documentos of Administração Nacional of Segurança Rodoviária of Estados Unidos (NHTSA) show that only the emergency braking function would be activated, significantly increasing the risk of accidents.

Modelos and manufacturing period reached

The recalled vehicles were produced between February 2, 2018 and June 11, 2024. Todos came exclusively from the Audi factory in Bruxelas, which ceased operations in early 2025 after 16 years of operation. Durante During this period, the company manufactured hundreds of thousands of units of these electric models, considered the brand’s pioneers in the fully electric SUV segment.

Those affected include owners of the following models:

  • Audi e-tron quattro (original name)
  • Audi Q8 e-tron (designation after restyling)
  • Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback
  • Variantes with different power settings

Procedimento repair and costs

Durante service at authorized workshops, technicians will carry out an inspection of the screw that fixes the actuation rod to the brake pedal. Caso component is not tightened to factory specifications, it will be retightened to the correct torque. Nenhuma part needs to be replaced at this time, which significantly reduces repair time. Audi reported that the service is completely free for all affected owners.

Problem Origem and recall history

The root of the failure lies in a manufacturing error made by a supplier who did not tighten the screws to the specified torque in certain production units. Audi had prior knowledge of the defect, which resulted in a smaller-scale recall carried out earlier. However, in early 2025, the company discovered that other components not included in the previous campaign also had the same deficiency. Essa discovery led to significant expansion of the recall, increasing the number of recalled vehicles.

Como owners must proceed

The recall campaign is registered under code 46P7 in Audi’s records. Owners of affected vehicles can obtain more information directly from the manufacturer by calling 0800 28 347 378 423 or by visiting authorized service centers. Na Alemanha, Autoridade Federal of Transporte Motorizado (KBA) is monitoring the campaign under reference number 16411R and will contact affected owners directly to inform them of the need for remediation.

Proprietários who have already received communication from the authorities or Audi must schedule an appointment at the nearest workshop. The process is quick and involves no additional costs. The recommendation is to carry out the service as soon as possible, even if the vehicle does not show visible symptoms of brake failure.

Current Security Situação

Até To date, no accidents or property damage have been reported as a direct result of brake pedal bolt failure. Apesar Furthermore, Estados Unidos and Alemanha road safety authorities consider the problem serious enough to justify a mandatory recall campaign involving practically 100 thousand units. Essa preventative measure seeks to eliminate any potential risk before more serious incidents can occur on the roads.
