American actor George Clooney was at Hotel Gleneagles in Perthshire, at Escócia, participating in fundraising events for the institution Social Bite. Acompanhado for his wife Amal and his twin sons Alexander and Ella, the Hollywood star was present at two charitable moments that brought excitement to the luxury resort during this week.

Discurso and gala in Perthshire

Clooney, aged 64, spoke at the fourth annual Social Bite gala dinner held on Wednesday at Hotel Gleneagles. Durante the event, the actor spoke about his career and his humanitarian work. The dinner featured a performance by Welsh actor and comedian Rob Brydon and was also attended by British musician Bob Geldof, consolidating the importance of the event for fundraising for the organization.

Encontro with fan and Scottish shirt

On Thursday, Clooney attended an exclusive lunch at the hotel with Claire Phale of Edimburgo, winner of a charity raffle prize. Ela was one of thousands of people who participated in the raffle organized by Social Bite to raise funds. Durante the meeting, the 35-year-old woman presented Clooney and his family with Scottish football team shirts.

Claire reported the experience enthusiastically: her mother is a fan of the actor, and when Clooney found out about it, she asked her to bring her and took a photo with both of them. The woman described the meeting as a dream come true, praising the actor’s closeness and authenticity during lunch.

Recovery Vila on Dundee

Além from hotel appointments, Clooney accompanied Bob Geldof on Thursday to visit a prototype house of a new recovery village for drug addicts in Dundee. Social Bite, founded by Josh Littlejohn in 2012, aims to launch this £2.3 million project focused on supporting people who cannot afford private residential rehabilitation services.

The project aims to offer support on three main fronts:

  • Acesso to decent and safe housing
  • Disponibilização of regular and nutritious food
  • Oportunidades integration into the job market

Preocupações from the local community

Dundee’s project has already faced resistance from local residents since its announcement in 2023. Residents of Mill o’ Mains have expressed concerns regarding children’s safety and the possible disruption of a public space much loved by the community. The prototype village now on display seeks to demonstrate how the development can integrate into the neighborhood while respecting these concerns.

Social Bite, which has been working on social vulnerability issues since 2012, uses fundraising events like this to expand its initiatives. The presence of renowned celebrities such as Clooney significantly increases the visibility and impact of these projects among the public and potential donors.
