League of Legends Update 26.9 brings new skins and reformulates items for the new season
Riot Games has released update 26.9 for League of Legends with structural changes to gameplay. The change package includes the arrival of the Pandemônio line of themed skins and profound adjustments to the balance of several characters. The developer also modified the role mission system during matches. The new version of the game is already active on official servers in all regions.
The main focus of the modifications is to revive old play styles and diversify equipment construction options. Classic Campeões received special attention to enable strategies that were outside the recent competitive meta. The implementation of the patch coincides with the start of the second stage of the 2026 ranked season and brings substantial new features to the alternative combat modes.

Balanceamento of champions and return of classic builds
Diversos cast characters have undergone revisions to their base attributes and damage multipliers. Marksman Ezreal has regained the viability of its ability power-focused build. The skills Disparo Místico, Fluxo Essencial, and Barragem Incendiária have received significant increases in magic conversion rates. The damage caused against troops has also been adjusted to facilitate the clearing of routes during the initial minutes.
Combatant Shyvana has received adjustments to more clearly separate her physical and magical damage versions. The Combustão ability now scales more efficiently with additional health and ability power. Fogo’s Hálito now deals more raw magic damage in direct confrontations. Passive healing during dragon form has also undergone numerical rebalancing to ensure greater survivability in team fights.
Outros popular champions received specific modifications to adapt the general power level within the game. Ambessa had the cast time of his ultimate ability increased from 0.55 to 0.70 seconds. Briar has seen a slight reduction in health growth per level, dropping from 100 to 95 points. Gragas has received damage reduction improvements to its Fúria from Bebedeira at higher levels of the skill.
The changes seek to create a healthier and more unpredictable competitive environment for players. Kennen now has critical hit interactions in his abilities to enable physical damage builds. Tahm Kench converts more damage taken into gray health and gains more speed when devouring allies in danger. Zeri has received mobility adjustments to reinforce her identity as a fast shooter. Xin Zhao gained better multipliers for hybrid builds. The list of modifications also affects Taliyah, Teemo, Udyr, Warwick and Zoe.
Sistema of route missions gains tactical flexibility
Role-specific mission mechanics have received updates to lessen the punishment on players. The penalty applied for abandoning the original route has been considerably reduced. The previous 50% cut in resources has dropped to 75% and can be completely reset depending on individual progress in the mission established by the system.
The delimitation of the space considered as a mission area also underwent an important expansion. The system now counts any point on the route that is outside the allied base. The previous rule required the player to remain strictly close to the outer tower. The change directly benefits assassin class characters and supports who constantly move around the map.
The system’s rewards and punishments have been recalibrated across different aspects of the game’s economy:
- The penalty on killing troops, destroying towers and collecting barricades has changed from 50% to 75%, with a chance of being completely nullified.
- Passive point progression increased to 1.5 per second while the player remains in the mission queue.
- The time allowed for movement outside the route accumulates up to 60 seconds for every two minutes spent on the line.
- The top lane reward grants a flat 80 experience points from champion kills and an additional 11% from other sources.
- The mid lane offers a 6% bonus to attack damage and ability power in replacement of the buffed return to base.
- Extra gold awarded for bot lane kills decreased from 50 to 40 gold.
The central objective of these adjustments is to make the route phase less rigid and more dynamic. Jogadores who prefer to assist teammates in other areas of the map will not lose as many resources as before. The map control dynamics should become more active in the first minutes of matches. Teams will be able to execute more aggressive rotations without compromising the economic development of their key players.
Novos starting items and equipment overhaul
The game’s item store presents two new options for the initial phase of clashes. Arco from Doran appears as an alternative for characters focused on constant basic attacks. The equipment provides attack damage, attack speed and universal vampirism. The Elmo of Doran was designed for the tank class. The item grants hit points, defensive resistances and a passive effect of protection against damage from enemy troops.
Equipamentos, already established in the meta, has undergone complete overhauls of its combat roles. Faca from Statikk now focuses its power on on-hit effect builds. The item fires an electrical current that applies additional modifiers to targets hit. Espada Ciclovoltaica has lost its ability to slow down opponents. Equipment now activates its energized effect through the use of skills. Arco’s Axioma has seen a reduction in base ultimate cooldown refund.
Boot options and support items also received new features in this major update. As Grevas Glutonas offers universal vampirism with a permanent accumulation mechanic based on enemy kills. Item Crepúsculo and Alvorada gained a new continuous healing property. Health recovery now scales directly with the user’s ability power and bonus health.
Atualização in runes and start of the second ranked season
The rune system features the return of classic options and the removal of popular choices. Toque Ígneo returns to the game as an essential rune from the Feitiçaria tree. The option is aimed at continuous damage mages, with a burning effect that increases in intensity after three seconds of combat. Ímpeto of Incursor replaces the Ímpeto Gradual rune. The new choice grants movement speed bonuses and slow resistance after the player deals a large amount of damage in a short time.
Cometa Arcano has lost the cooldown reduction mechanic in its structure. Rune damage now scales based on the distance the projectile travels to the target. Lâminas’s Chuva has received a true damage bonus on empowered attacks. The Ímpeto Gradual rune has been permanently removed from the options available to players.
The second stage of the ranked season is scheduled to start on April 29th. Jogadores of the highest links in select regions will undergo a score reset to the Mestre league with zero points. Missions that grant victorious rewards will also have their progress reset. The Pandemônio line of skins, which includes outfits for Annie, Kindred, Vayne, and a prestige version for Shaco, will become available in the store with the start of the season.
The Arena alt mode has received a major content expansion to attract new competitors. The Bosque map of Petricita has been added to the rotation of available scenarios. The improvement system now has progression levels and options for removing unwanted improvements. Novos map events such as asymmetric clashes and bravery queues have been implemented. ARAM mode has also undergone balance adjustments, with improvements for Bardo and Ornn, as well as fixes for visual bugs and system interactions. The introduction of WASD key control will come to ranked mode shortly after this patch is stabilized.
