Berkshire Hathaway reduces attendance at annual shopping event, with Greg Abel in the spotlight

Berkshire Hathaway’s annual “Berkshire Bazaar of Bargains” event saw fewer visitors this year. CHI Health Center’s 20,000 square foot ballroom at Omaha, Nebraska, maintained its traditional lineup of offerings, but with noticeably reduced lines compared to previous years. The meeting marks the first major transition since Greg Abel took over as CEO in early 2026, replacing Warren Buffett as the company’s central figure.

Warren Buffett, the 95-year-old president, will no longer be the main speaker of the question and answer session. Abel, who already visited all the stands in the hall greeting shareholders, took on a prominent role at the event. The leadership change reflects the succession planned for years at the company.
