Virtuos, a studio specializing in remasters and adaptations, expressed interest in bringing two of Rockstar Games’s biggest hits to the Nintendo hybrid console. Andy Fong, the company’s technical director, revealed in an interview that the team wants to work on versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 aimed exclusively at Switch.

The commercial potential of the titles reinforces the ambition. GTA V has over 225 million copies sold globally, while Red Dead Redemption 2 has over 82 million. Ambos maintain active player bases, and the portable hybrid console proposal would represent an opportunity to reach new audiences.

Fong confirms technical layout of the studio

“The team is looking forward to adapting Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 to Nintendo Switch,” stated Fong. “We are big fans and believe these games can shine again on Switch, delighting even more players.” The statement indicates not only interest, but internal confidence about the technical feasibility of the conversions.

Virtuos’s track record strengthens the credibility of this aspiration. The company has already demonstrated its capacity in large-scale and technically complex projects:

  • L.A. Noire adapted for multiple platforms and Switch
  • XCOM 2 successfully ported to various hardware
  • The Outer Worlds converted to hybrid consoles
  • Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater in co-development
  • The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered produced with Bethesda Game Studios

Essas’s achievements position Virtuos as one of the most reliable studios when it comes to porting complex titles to platforms with technical limitations.

Possível arrival at Switch 2 amplifies perspectives

An eventual adaptation of Grand Theft Auto V or Red Dead Redemption 2 could materialize not only in the current Switch, but also in the Switch 2, Nintendo’s next generation console. Essa expanded window would open up more technical possibilities for graphics and performance optimization.

Rockstar Games has not yet officially confirmed any such project. Ambos titles remain PlayStation, Xbox and PC exclusives. A move in this direction would depend on negotiations between the two companies and approval from the American publisher.

Oblivion Remastered in development for Switch 2

Enquanto awaits definitions on GTA V and Red Dead 2, Virtuos continues with another large-scale project. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered remains in production for Switch 2, although no official release date has been announced. The title will receive visual and performance improvements suitable for the new Nintendo hardware.

The sequence of pre-launch work signals that Virtuos continues with a dense agenda in the adaptations segment. Confirmações regarding GTA V and Red Dead 2 remain on hold, pending commercial negotiations between Rockstar and Nintendo.
