Design refined and high-brightness displays

The physical construction of the new devices received special attention from the brand’s engineering team. The traditional Xiaomi 17 adopts a more compact profile, ideal for users who prefer to handle the phone with just one hand, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra model is the thinnest device ever manufactured within the company’s Ultra line. Ambos cell phones share a reinforced structure called Xiaomi Guardian, which uses a high-strength aluminum frame combined with Shield Glass protective glass, ensuring greater durability against accidental impacts and everyday scratches.

Para ensure protection against external elements, the manufacturer implemented IP68 certification across the entire line, which provides resistance to water and dust. Ergonomics was also a central point in development, resulting in a redesigned camera module in the most advanced model to avoid weight imbalance during prolonged use.

  • Xiaomi 17 features a 6.3-inch screen, weighs 191 grams and is 8.06 millimeters thick.
  • Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 6.9-inch display, weighs approximately 218 grams and is 8.29 millimeters thick.
  • Certificação IP68 against water and dust present in both versions.
  • Front and rear Proteção guaranteed by Shield Glass glass, version 3.0 being exclusive to the Ultra model.

In terms of visualization, the quality of the screens reflects the premium positioning of the products. The Xiaomi 17 is equipped with a CrystalRes OLED panel that delivers a resolution of 2656 x 1220 pixels and a variable refresh rate of 1 to 120 hertz through LTPO technology. Já o Xiaomi 17 Ultra raises the bar with a HyperRGB OLED display, capable of achieving visual clarity equivalent to 2K resolution. The two smartphones share an impressive peak brightness of 3,500 nits, making them easy to read in direct sunlight, and support imaging standards like Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

Parceria with the Leica and advances in mobile photography

The great attraction of the new generation lies in the optical set, the result of the strategic alliance with the traditional lens manufacturer Leica. The basic Xiaomi 17 doesn’t skimp on specifications and delivers three rear sensors of 50 megapixels each. The main camera uses the Light Fusion 950 sensor with an aperture of f/1.67 and a focal length equivalent to 23 millimeters, accompanied by a 60 millimeter telephoto lens with optical image stabilization and an ultrawide camera with a 102-degree field of view.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra, in turn, was designed to rival dedicated cameras. The device sports a 1-inch main sensor, the Light Fusion 1050L, which works together with LOFIC technology to significantly expand the dynamic range of photographs. The absolute highlight of the model is the innovative 200 megapixel telephoto camera, which incorporates a variable mechanical optical zoom system capable of moving fluidly between 75 and 100 millimeters.

Utilizando an APO Leica lens, this complex mechanism allows the user to achieve a zoom equivalent to up to 400 millimeters without noticeable loss of optical quality. The ultrawide lens on the more expensive model is also superior, covering an angle of 115 degrees. In the video department, the high-end device supports recording in 4K resolution at 120 frames per second with Dolby Vision, in addition to offering the Log ACES mode for color editing professionals.

Para complement the photographic experience, the camera application interface offers the well-known Leica Authentic and Vibrant color profiles, simulating the classic aesthetics of the German brand. The most enthusiastic consumers can also purchase an Photography Kit separately for the Ultra model, an accessory that adds an ergonomic grip, wrist strap and a physical two-stage shooting button, transforming the cell phone into a true compact camera.

Desempenho powered by new processor and high-density batteries

The processing power of both smartphones is guaranteed by the recently announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which promises significant leaps in application execution speed and artificial intelligence processing. Para follows the central component, the Xiaomi 17 hits the market with options starting at 12 gigabytes of RAM, while the Ultra variant increases the base to 16 gigabytes. The internal storage uses the fast UFS 4.1 standard, with capacities starting at 512 gigabytes, guaranteeing plenty of space for videos in very high resolution.

Thermal management has been improved to handle the robust hardware. The manufacturer has included a wide-area heat dissipation system inside the chassis, designed to keep temperatures under control during prolonged heavy gaming sessions or 4K video recordings. Essa thermal engineering works in conjunction with the energy efficiency improvements of the Qualcomm processor itself.

In terms of autonomy, the company adopted batteries with a new chemical composition that has a higher silicon content. Essa technology allows you to store more energy in a smaller physical space. The Xiaomi 17 surprises by housing a 6,330 milliampere-hour battery, supporting fast charging of 100 watts wired and 50 watts wirelessly. Curiosamente, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has a slightly smaller capacity of 6,000 milliampere-hours, with recharging of 90 watts via cable and the same 50 watts via induction, a design choice necessary to accommodate the complex camera module without increasing the overall thickness of the device.

Estratégia market and availability on América Latina

The choice of México to host the launch event highlights the importance of the Latin American market for the company’s growth plans. The presentation at Guadalajara served as a regional milestone, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to bringing its cutting-edge products to the continent in a more agile way. However, during the press conference, executives did not provide an official launch schedule or retail pricing estimates on the Brasil.

The positioning of the two models serves different audiences within the premium segment. The Xiaomi 17 seeks to win over consumers who want top-of-the-line specifications, a long-lasting battery and an extremely competent camera system, but who do not want to give up a more wallet-friendly format. The device’s lightness, combined with its refined design, places it as a strong competitor in the high-performance compact smartphone market.

In contrast, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is a niche product aimed at content creators, amateur photographers and technology enthusiasts who seek the limit of what is possible with a current mobile device. The integration of HyperOS, the brand’s operating system based on the latest versions of Android, promises to unify the user experience, offering fluidity and integration with the company’s smart home ecosystem. Expectations now revolve around expanding the availability of these devices to other countries in the region in the coming months.
