Apple plans to launch MacBook Ultra with OLED screen and touch support
Apple is considering positioning a new high-performance laptop model above the Pro MacBook line, according to analysts and market information. The device, dubbed MacBook Ultra, will remain in development while the Pro series will continue to be sold in parallel.
Display OLED marks technological transition
The biggest leap in the next generation will come from the panel. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg and Ming-Chi analyst Kuo confirm that Apple will move to OLED technology, manufactured by Samsung Display using the same hybrid construction as the current iPad Pro. Compared to current LCD panels equipped with Mini-LED backlighting, the new display will offer higher brightness, better contrast and lower power consumption.
The change represents a significant evolution in visual quality. The OLED panel promises more accurate colors and faster response times, benefiting both digital creative professionals and users who work with media.

A notable twist happens in the input interface. Apple has historically rejected touchscreen in Macs, but now plans to integrate this functionality. Diferentemente from Touch Bar, which has not achieved mass adoption, the new system will allow simultaneous and balanced use of touchpad, mouse and direct touch on the screen, with macOS dynamically adapting to each input method chosen.
Essa approach eliminates the dichotomy between tactile and traditional devices, offering flexibility to the user. The operating system will automatically recognize which peripheral is in use and adjust the interface accordingly.
Design thinner and lighter
Apple works on a more compact and lightweight chassis. The challenge lies in maintaining the reintroduced connectors in 2021 without compromising portability. The current notch should be replaced by an Display Notch similar to the iPhone’s Dynamic Island, which expands depending on the application or system function.
The optimized enclosure will reduce the overall weight of the equipment without sacrificing durability or functionality. Isso aligns the MacBook Ultra with the mobility standards demanded by professionals on the move.

Processadores M6 with renewed architecture
Chips of the M6 series will provide computing power, specifically M6 Pro and M6 Max manufactured in 2 nanometer process by TSMC. A new packaging strategy will bring together CPU, GPU, RAM and Neural Engine, resulting in:
- Augmented computational Desempenho
- Redução significant in power consumption
- Melhor thermal efficiency
- Arquitetura optimized for artificial intelligence
Apple will position M6 chips as solutions targeting AI workloads, differentiating the MacBook Ultra as a tool for accelerated computing and machine learning.
Cronograma release still uncertain
The launch remains open. Anteriormente, a market output for the end of 2026 was considered likely, but global bottlenecks in semiconductor chip manufacturing have shifted expectations to early 2027. The availability of components, particularly memory, directly influences the production schedule.
Apple awaits the normalization of supply chains before consolidating official presentation and commercialization dates. The product portfolio must be announced when the company has confirmed production capacity.
