Os Estados Unidos carried out airstrikes against Iranian military targets in the early hours of Tuesday while Irã claimed to have shot down a North American MQ-9 Reaper drone and fired at an F-35 fighter jet that invaded its airspace. The US’ Comando Central classified the operations as “self-defense attacks” with “restraint” during the fragile ceasefire. Secretário of Estado Marco Rubio stated that a deal with Irã remained possible despite the attacks, while President Trump sought either “a good deal, or no deal at all.”

Tensions intensified after Irã threatened that any response to “future aggression” would go beyond “the region’s borders.” Brigadeiro-General Abolfazl Shekarchi, spokesman for the Iranian Forças Armadas, stated that Irã is not developing nuclear weapons, arguing that its conventional arsenal makes such development unnecessary. The military operations took place amid diplomatic negotiations and efforts by the international community to maintain the ceasefire.

US Ataques hits objectives south of Irã

US Comando Central confirmed that night operations targeted missile sites south of Irã, as well as Iranian vessels believed to be attempting to lay water mines. The semi-official Iranian news agency SNN reported that “American-Zionist” fighter jets attacked several Iranian ships south of Ilha of Larak, in Estreito of Ormuz.

Fontes locations indicated multiple targets hit. Corpo of Guarda Revolucionária Islâmica of Irã identified four Navy personnel killed in the nighttime airstrikes. The names released were Abbas Eslami, Ghodrat Zarangari, Abdolreza Golzari and Hossein Sotoudeh. An Telegram channel affiliated with the powerful IRGC reported that Sotoudeh would have held their wedding ceremony in the following days.

Irã claims victories against US aircraft

Guarda Revolucionária Islâmica stated that its air defense units identified and shot down an MQ-9 drone that entered Iranian airspace in the region of Golfo Pérsico. The statement also mentioned shooting at an RQ-4 drone and an F-35 fighter that invaded national territory.

Desde the beginning of the conflict, Estados Unidos lost at least 16 MQ-9 Reaper drones over Irã. Drones of this type cost more than 30 million dollars each, depending on the variant. At the beginning of the conflict, three North American F-15 fighters were shot down over Kuwait in a “friendly fire” incident, but without casualties. The Iranian claims occur in the context of controlled military escalation and parallel diplomatic negotiations.

Dinâmica diplomatic and international positioning

Marco Rubio signaled continuity in talks with Irã despite the military attacks. The Trump administration’s position emphasizes an “all or nothing” approach to negotiations, seeking a long-term agreement or refusing interim commitments. China, in turn, called on “interested parties” to respect the fragile ceasefire and resolve disputes through peaceful means.

Pequim urged the parties to “fulfill their ceasefire commitments, resolve disputes through peaceful means and promote the early restoration of peace”, as stated by Ministério’s spokesperson Relações Exteriores Mao Ning in a regular press conference.

Contexto violence on Líbano

Enquanto the conflict with Irã continued, the situation in Líbano also deteriorated. Primeiro-minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorized more intense attacks against Hezbollah, supported by Irã. Socorristas pulled a dozen bodies from the rubble following an Israeli airstrike in eastern Líbano, as reported by the country’s state media.

The attacks are part of a broader campaign against Hezbollah’s infrastructure and positions in the region. The escalation in Líbano connects directly to the broader conflicts in Oriente Médio, where Iranian tensions with Estados Unidos and Israel have direct regional implications.

Histórico of aircraft losses and military costs

Desde the start of the war, the conflict cost Estados Unidos significant losses in equipment:

  • 16 MQ-9 Reaper drones lost over Irã
  • 3 F-15 fighters shot down over Kuwait in friendly fire incident, no casualties
  • Valor estimated per MQ-9 drone: more than 30 million dollars per unit
  • Custo total in equipment: over 480 million dollars worth of Reaper drones lost

Ameaças Iranian conflict expansion

Shekarchi warned that any future Irã response to “aggressions” would cross regional boundaries. The statement reflects the possibility of Iranian attacks in broader theaters outside of Oriente Médio. The spokesperson also reiterated that Irã does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, citing its conventional arsenal as sufficient for its strategic defense needs. Essa position contrasts with Western concerns about Iran’s nuclear program.
