Roseli Fernandes of Oliveira Romeiro Vieira, 48 years old, died on Tuesday morning (26) in an aesthetic clinic at Zona Sul of São Paulo after suffering complications resulting from the application of PMMA (Polimetilmetacrilato) to the buttocks and thighs. The makeup artist and digital influencer went into cardiorespiratory arrest less than 24 hours after the procedure, the total cost of which reached R$54,410. Ela was rescued by Samu in the hall of the commercial building where the office was located, but she did not survive.

Natural of Jardim, in Mato Grosso of Sul, Roseli traveled to the capital of São Paulo to carry out large-scale aesthetic fillings. The symptoms began early in the morning, with reports of intense pain, difficulty breathing and tachycardia, according to the testimony of the daughter who accompanied her on the trip.

Detalhamento of the procedure and financial investment

The total budget was divided into 3 application stages:

  • Glúteos: R$26,455
  • Posterior of the thighs: R$ 14,955
  • Quadríceps: R$13,000 (procedure scheduled for the day of death)

Todos payments were made in cash, via Pix, as confirmed in an investigation. The PMMA procedure was performed by doctor Tábita Nunes Marcolino Jorge, who works in a rented office in the commercial building.

The victim’s last hours

On Tuesday morning, Roseli reports to his daughter that he felt his heart racing and feared for his life. At one point, he even stated that he “thought he was going to die” due to the accelerated heart rate. Ela contacted the doctor, who advised her to return to the office for evaluation. Ainda During the journey in the application car, the makeup artist lost consciousness. Upon arriving at the building, she was taken to the hall where the doctor and Samu team attempted resuscitation maneuvers without success. Death was confirmed at 10:05 am.

PMMA technical and regulatory Aspectos

PMMA is registered with Anvisa, but its authorization is restricted to reparative purposes, such as correcting lipodystrophy or small imperfections. The substance is not recommended for large-scale aesthetic procedures, such as filling the buttocks and legs, according to the regulatory agency’s guidelines. In her statement to the 27th Distrito Policial (Campo Belo), doctor Tábita Nunes stated that she had applied approximately 300 milliliters of PMMA and stated that the patient had normal preoperative exams. The professional, however, admitted that she did not have a residency in dermatology.

Severe Complicações and inflammatory reactions represent documented risks associated with PMMA. Anvisa reinforces that the application must be carried out carefully and only by qualified professionals. The substance has already caused deaths in previous aesthetic procedures.

Doctor’s Posicionamento

In a note, Tábita Nunes’s defense stated that the procedure took place without any complications and that Roseli was discharged without complaints. Segundo the statement, the fainting occurred exclusively during the journey from the hotel to the clinic, inside an Uber. Tábita activated Samu and began cardiac resuscitation maneuvers upon noticing the loss of consciousness in the reception hall. The defense also highlights that the investigation is at an early stage and that there is no report proving a relationship between the procedure and death. The doctor voluntarily presented herself for testimony and remains at the disposal of Polícia Civil for further clarification.
