Chinese manufacturer BYD has officially announced the arrival of the Atto 1 model to the Tailândia automotive market. The compact electric vehicle was presented during the activities of the Salão Internacional of Automóvel of Bangkok of 2026. The automaker defined the car as the brand’s entry option in the Asian country. The focus of the project directly meets the needs of daily urban mobility. The model arrives at local dealerships divided into two main configurations. The initial version, called Dynamic, has a suggested retail price starting at 429,900 baht. The top-of-the-line variant, called Premium, costs 459,900 baht.

The established values position the hatchback competitively in the low-cost zero-emission vehicle segment. The commercial strategy aims to attract consumers looking for their first electric car without the need for large financial investments. The Thai market is going through a moment of energy transition in the transport sector. The introduction of cheaper models accelerates this process of change in the circulating fleet. BYD uses direct import of China to supply initial batches destined for Asian customers. The vehicle already has an impressive sales history in other regions of the world.

Arquitetura external and use of internal space

The Atto 1’s engineering design prioritizes functionality on narrow and congested urban roads. The hatchback measures exactly 3,925 millimeters in length and 1,720 millimeters in width. The overall height of the vehicle reaches 1,590 millimeters. Space for occupants is guaranteed by the wheelbase of 2,500 millimeters. The cabin holds up to five people, suitable for short and medium journeys. The construction platform optimizes the arrangement of mechanical components to free up useful space in the cabin.

The exterior design adopts a modern and aerodynamic visual language. The front optical assembly and rear lights use LED technology as standard. The car has daytime running lights integrated into the bumper. The floating effect roof and rear spoiler add a dynamic aspect to the body design. The alloy wheels vary between 15 and 16 inches, depending on the version chosen by the buyer. The exterior color palette offers varied options for customization. In other global markets, the same vehicle receives the commercial names Seagull or Dolphin Surf.

Conjunto mechanics and battery life

The compact’s propulsion system consists of an electric motor installed on the front axle. The equipment develops 74 maximum horsepower. Immediate torque reaches 135 Nm. The driving force allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in less than five seconds. The driver can select between three different driving modes. The Eco, Normal, and Sport options change throttle response and power management. Front-wheel drive makes maneuvering easier and ensures agility in traffic in large cities.

Power supply occurs through batteries from the Blade LFP line, developed by BYD itself. The Dynamic configuration leaves the factory with a 30.08 kWh capacity package. The component delivers an estimated range of 300 kilometers, according to NEDC test cycle standards. The Premium version receives a larger set, with 38.88 kWh of storage. The maximum range rises to 380 kilometers using the same measurement standard.

Tests carried out under the WLTP standard, which simulates conditions closer to real use, present different numbers. The entry-level version records around 240 kilometers of practical range. The most expensive model reaches approximately 304 kilometers before requiring a new connection to the socket. The prices perfectly suit daily commutes without the need for frequent stops for fuel.

Equipamentos connectivity and road safety

The interior of the vehicle concentrates the controls on two main digital screens. The 7-inch instrument cluster displays essential driving data. The driver sees the speed, instantaneous consumption and remaining battery percentage. The center of the panel houses a 10.1-inch touch-sensitive multimedia center. The operating system allows smartphone mirroring without the need for physical cables. The cabin has automatic air conditioning and an integrated air purification system. The driver’s seat has electrical adjustments in six different positions.

The list of protective equipment includes features present in higher category vehicles. The body structure uses a high percentage of ultra-strength steel at critical points. The security package includes the following standard items:

  • Seis airbags distributed throughout the cabin for frontal and side protection.
  • Câmera in reverse with dynamic guide lines to aid maneuvering.
  • Sistema autonomous emergency braking with obstacle detection.
  • Assistente electronic maintenance and lane centering.
  • Sensores continuous monitoring of tire pressure and temperature.

The ADAS package helps the driver prevent accidents on heavily trafficked roads. The windshield wipers are automatically activated by a rain sensor. The steering has progressive electric assistance. The suspension calibration was adjusted to absorb impacts caused by irregularities in the asphalt, providing comfort to passengers.

Tempos commercial charging and positioning

The Atto 1’s power replenishment process provides flexibility for everyday use. The internal system supports alternating current (AC) charging with a maximum power of 6.6 kW in both versions. Recharging at fast direct current (DC) stations presents technical variations. The Dynamic model accepts peaks of up to 30 kW of power. The Premium variant raises this limit to 40 kW. The fast charging capability allows you to recover much of the battery in short stops during the day.

The vehicle features technology known as vehicle-to-load (V2L). The system turns the car into a mobile power source. The owner can connect external electrical equipment directly to the vehicle’s charging port. The function meets the demands of camping, the use of tools or situations of power outages in the main electrical network.

The automaker structures its local portfolio by positioning the new hatch just below the Dolphin model. The strategy fills a specific gap in the Asian automotive market. The official schedule foresees the start of deliveries to the first buyers in the weeks following the end of the event at Bangkok. The manufacturer maintains the standard of offering extended warranties for the battery pack and high-voltage electrical components. The expansion of the network of charging stations at Tailândia creates a favorable environment for the sale of vehicles with this urban proposal.
