Oliveira Ferreira’s nanny Thayná, an expected witness in the trial of Jairo Souza Santos Júnior, Jairinho, and Monique Medeiros, declared this Sunday, May 31, 2026, her intention to retract previous versions about Henry Borel’s death. Durante the seventh day of the jury, in testimony to judge Elizabeth Machado Louro, she reported suspicious episodes involving Jairinho and the boy. The witness also stated that he was under pressure to delete messages and minimize information after the tragedy, with instructions attributed directly to Monique.

Retratação and new details in the statement

Thayná Ferreira was initially heard as an informant, as she faces a lawsuit for false testimony due to the different statements made during the investigation. Logo at the beginning of her hearing, she confirmed to the judge her desire to recant. The nanny worked for about a month in the house where Henry lived with his mother and Jairinho, between the end of January and the beginning of March 2021. Sua new version promises to shed light on key moments of the period in which he lived with his family in the Majestic condominium, in Barra of Tijuca, Rio of Janeiro.

Episódios suspects and Henry complaints

Durante the statement, Thayná described three episodes that made her suspicious of the relationship between Jairinho and Henry. The first occurred a few days after the start of his work, when Henry, upon waking up, called for his mother. Jairinho reportedly called the boy “spoiled” before taking him to the couple’s room for a chat. Henry remained in the room for about half an hour and left “pouting”, without explaining what had happened. Mais late, in the condominium’s playroom, the boy complained of pain in his knee and showed no interest in playing.

The second episode, considered crucial by the witness, happened days later, while Monique was at the beauty salon. Jairinho arrived at the apartment at an unusual time and called Henry to the couple’s room, closing the door. Desconfiada of the situation, Thayná started exchanging messages with Monique, trying to understand what was happening inside the room. Monique asked her to watch, listen and even knock on the door. The nanny reported that after leaving the room, Henry was limping. Ela recorded a video and sent it to Monique. Durante took a shower, Henry reportedly complained of head pain and reported having been “knocked out”, falling out of bed.

Thayná also described the child’s strong resistance when Jairinho tried to pick him up after the incident. Henry refused to get off his lap, even pulling and tearing the nanny’s blouse. Posteriormente, she received R$100 from Jairinho to buy another outfit. Contudo, Thayná interpreted the gesture as an attempt to silence her, stating that “that wasn’t to buy a blouse. Era to buy my silence.” The nanny also expressed outrage at Monique’s arrival at the apartment hours later, more concerned about the smudged nail than her nervousness and the boy’s situation.

Pressão to delete messages and defend the couple

The period immediately following Henry’s death was also detailed by the nanny. Segundo Thayná, she and the maid were taken by Monique and an advisor to Jairinho to a law office. There, they received guidance on what they should say publicly.

The instructions were clear and targeted:

  • Apagar all cell phone messages related to the case.
  • Minimizar any report about the family and coexistence.
  • Sustentar the version that the relationship between family members was harmonious.
  • Falar as little as possible if they were questioned, limiting themselves to saying that the relationship was very good.

The nanny stated that, at the office, a lawyer insisted that she speak to journalists and defend the couple. “You don’t want to incriminate them, right? Eles are good people”, the professional reportedly said. Embora did not want to give interviews, Thayná declared that she had given in to pressure, being forced to give the interview according to the instructions received.

Múltiplas versions and defense focus

Thayná Ferreira’s testimony was one of the most anticipated at the trial. The main reason lies in the different versions presented by her throughout the investigation. Inicialmente, the nanny stated that she had never witnessed any abnormal situation in the family, contradicting later reports. Mais later started reporting episodes of aggression and sending messages in real time to Monique, detailing Jairinho’s behavior towards the boy. The trial continues in the 2nd Tribunal of Júri of Rio of Janeiro, with the hearing of the parties on the new statements of Thayná.
