Anthropic released this Tuesday (9) the Claude Fable 5, the first public version of a Mythos class model. The new system stands out for its ability to perform complex and long tasks, such as creating games and tools from simple initial commands.
Researcher Ethan Mollick of the University of Pennsylvania tested the model and reported that it outperformed other available public systems by a significant margin. On his Substack, Mollick described impressive results, including generating complete video games with just an initial prompt in Claude Code, followed by smaller tweaks.
Games generated in minutes
Among the creations are:
- Snake: an addictive version of the classic, with a snake that doesn’t stop moving and arcade mechanics from the 80s.
- Strata: exploration of an infinite network of underground tunnels, with the aim of lighting lanterns. The graphics are reminiscent of Myst, generated by pure mathematics, without external images.
- Duino: poetic experience inspired by the Duino Elegies, by Rainer Maria Rilke, with a solitary figure in a night landscape and excerpts from the poem appearing on the screen.
Mollick also produced an accurate isochronic map, which shows travel times between locations. All projects were started with a single command.
What changes in practice
Fable 5 represents a leap forward in the ability to quickly turn vague ideas into working software. Projects that previously required entire teams can now start with a simple request. The model handles ambitious tasks that last hours or days well, maintaining coherence over time.
Anthropic positions Fable 5 as a “safe for general use” version of the Mythos, a more powerful model that was kept restricted initially due to risks, especially in cybersecurity. The new system includes safeguards that redirect high-risk queries to legacy models, affecting less than 5% of sessions on average.
This allows developers, creators, and professionals to access advanced capabilities without the same barriers as before. Companies like Stripe have already used the line’s models for massive code migrations in record time.
Implications for developers and the market
The release accelerates the minimum AI capabilities curve. What once required weeks of work can now be prototyped in hours, changing the pace of experimentation in programming, game design, and data visualization. For programmers, it means more time for strategy and less for repetitive tasks. For the sector, it signals that technical barriers continue to fall rapidly.
Fable 5 is available to paid Anthropic subscribers, with a free trial period on some plans until June 22nd.
