Feyenoord announced this Tuesday the contract extension of striker Kelvin Neijenhuis. The 18-year-old, trained at the club’s academy, signed a new contract that keeps him with the Dutch team until mid-2029.

Neijenhuis arrived at Feyenoord as a child, in 2015, coming from Zierikzee’s MZC’11. Since then, he has been through all the youth teams at Varkenoord. Three years ago, he signed his first professional contract with the club.

The center forward is experiencing a positive moment this season. He helped Feyenoord U19s win the Dutch Junior Championship title last weekend. The striker also accumulates call-ups for the Dutch youth teams.

In an official statement, Neijenhuis celebrated the stay. “I’ve been playing for Feyenoord for over ten years and I feel like a kid at the club. Feyenoord means a lot to me and I want to develop here in the coming years,” said the player.

The extension comes at a strategic time. With the previous contract about to expire, Feyenoord avoided the risk of losing one of its promises for a low cost or for free. The club still has an extension option for another year, until 2030.

Neijenhuis is now looking at bigger challenges. For next season, he projects participation in the Youth League and possible promotion with the U21 team. The striker stands out for his presence in the area and his eye for goal in the youth categories.
