Getafe Club de Fútbol is experiencing a moment of relief and celebration this Tuesday. After weeks of uncertainty and tense negotiations, José Bordalás accepted the renewal offer presented by president Ángel Torres and will continue to coach the team for the next season.
The Alicante coach, who led the club to seventh place in LaLiga and qualification for the Conference League, had received initial proposals that did not fully convince him. Recently, a meeting between the parties changed the scenario. Sources close to the negotiations report great optimism since the beginning of the day, with intense conversations that culminated in Bordalás’ “yes”.
The coach’s permanence is seen as fundamental to the stability of the project. Bordalás built a deep relationship with the club in his second spell, transforming Getafe into a competitive and resilient team, despite financial and squad limitations.
The agreement still goes through the final contractual adjustments, but the understanding between the coach, his representatives and the board is complete. The news represents a setback for other clubs that were looking for the coach, such as Osasuna, who even made a formal offer.
With Bordalás on the bench, Getafe maintains the pillar of its recent success and prepares to compete in European competitions in the 2026/27 season, something historic for the club from the south of Madrid.
